If your new system is running Windows 11 It could be that it is set in S Mode which will only allow applications to be installed from the Microsoft store only.

 

You can change this S Mode if it is in that very simply just go to this link and make sure and click on Windows 11 then follow the instructions to switch out of S Mode:

After you have done the above try to reinstall 360 Total Security.

 

(it does work on Windows 11 systems had it on my own but if in S Mode it wont install until you switch out of S Mode following the instructions above then after just reinstall)

9/10 the Install error - 0x80070002

is simply the update download failed.

could be down to numerous reason. doggy wireless link anything.

 

hit the windows logo very bottom left in your toolbar ONCE

type update

run windows update again.

I agree with dx100uk it could be numerous different issues

 

As its a new PC also one thing you need to check is that all your Device Drivers are up to date as well as it could be something as simple as one of these need updated that could be causing the update to fail.

 

Had this on my new laptop with Windows 11 one update wouldn't install with certain error code so checked my drivers and one need updated and as soon as I done that tried windows update again and the update installed.

 

To check your device driver it will take time to go through them all.

 

In the Windows Search Box Type   Device Manager them either click on it or just hit return to open it (you should be presented with a list of all the devices installed on your PC.

 

You will then need to go through each individual one.

 

Simply click on the device then right click, then click update driver, then click search automatically for drivers (you need to do this for each one and make sure your online while doing it)

I must be stupid/thick, I typed in Device Manager  and got nothing come up  

I have looked  for it on comp, also tried to d/l  the update again but still getting the  error

Me and technology  do not go together! 

I will keep searching for the list of devices  etc, thank you

as dx100uk stated hold down the Windows key at the same time press X, it will then display a list and from that list click device manager which then open a list of all your drivers which you can then update as I mention in post#108

hi Stu, I did that but the device manager list has no drivers on it from what can see

select device manager

you'll get a window called device manager

below that a menu File - Action - View - help

below that some icons

below that will be a down arrow with the name of your PC beside it to the right

click on that name it will go blue

hit action

hit scan for hardware changes

close device manager

.

 

when thats done

once click the white windows key bottom left of the very bottom task bar it goes blue

type update

run the app

hit check for updates.

if you see new version 22H2

run that.

hi DX ty for that, I did it and got  to the part where said name of PC, clicked it and it went blue, then did action and hit scan for hardware changes.

 

I went click the white window key but it did not go blue, tried few times and nothing

ok lets rephrase that 

when you hold your mouse pointer over the white 4 flag windows icon bottom left on the bottom task bar it turn blue and strart pops up. when it does hit the left mouse button and type update.hit return key.

Ok so pressing the windows key with X at the same time your should be presented with something like the below picture and you just hover over device manager and click it:

 

 

Once that opens up you should be presented with the below image which is a list of all the device drivers on your computer:

 

 

Now as an example from that list at the very top look at "Audi inputs and outputs" to the left you will see an arrow click on it and it will open to a another list of the device driver for that area and you should se something similar to below:

 

 

Now as an example you then on that open list you see Microphone array (Realtek High Definition Audio) hover over it then right click and you should be presented with the below image:

 

 

Once on that hoover over update driver and click on it and you should be presented with the below image where all you need to do is hoover over and click on Search automatically for drivers.

 

 

Now you will need to do this for the entire main list as this is a new computer there will be device drivers that may be out of date and need update so that is why I said previously that this may take you a while to do.

 

Once you have completed this try running windows update again

I tried holding down the Windows button and pressing 'x' and I got something very similar.

you dont really need to do stu's bit.

 

you can do this in one go by following my method.

 

but you dont use the keyboard windows logo key

but the one on the bottom left of the screen

hold on it it will pop up start

left click on it 

type update.

 

then follow the rest of my instruction.

does your screen now change to one with on screen icon like an old pc and the toolbar across the bottom?
