Hi, husband and i have account at lloyds we have had for approx 2 years, in that time we have had - has to be- nearly 1k in charges taken from our account, we would like to have a go at this but are pretty scared to be honest, typical british family im afraid dont like to say boo! but - the money is legally ours - right?- i guess its just that banks seem so powerful.

anyhoos, defo going to send the letter and see what happens

 

another thing, we dont have a printer will they take us seriously if the letter is hand written - stupid question i know !

Email or write the letter by hand, it doesn't matter. They'll take you seriously at some point.

 

Make sure that you have another account open elsewhere before you start taking action.

 

Is the money legally yours? Yes if they have been charging you disproportionate penalties. Lloyds say that their charges are fair and reasonable but they won't come out and say what that means. Listen to the soundfile n the library of the interview with Peter McNamara who was once head of personal banking at Lloyds. He is a man who hould know and he says that it makes money so that Lloyds can fund free banking for current accounts.

thanks for that, i will listen to it now.

I have just gone back through internet banking statements and added the charges up, theres 274.00 on one account and 359.00 on another a total of 633.00 and i know we will have at least another 70.00 in charges on the 1st of March.

Thats a lot of money we have 3 young children and that is enough for our summer holiday.

I am so going to do this!
