Hi,

I took out a payday loan with Quick Quid. I couldn't afford to pay them back and they have sold my debt to 1st credit.

I think that they sold it to them around 2 months ago and I have still not heard anything from them.

Should I contact 1st credit and what does it mean that the debt has been sold to them?

Thanks

Hi,

I have now had contact with them. I had a missed call on my phone and called the number back and it was them. They said they ywere taking legal action if I didn't make some sort of payment.

I said that as they have not contacted me to inform me of any legal action then they cannot proceed with legal action. They said they had sent out 2 letters and made calls to me, none of which I had received.

I made a payment of £30.00 towards the debt and set up a payment plan. Then I received a letter from them saying that they were taking legal action. This letter was dated after I made the payment and the debt had the £30.00 taken off of it.

I called them as they had said that no legal action would be taken as I had set up a payment plan. The person I spoke to try to tell me that no legal action would be taken and that this letter hadn't been sent to me as they have only notes in their system that they have sent me 2 letters.

Should I take this to the OFT as I know that 1st credit was pulled up on the way that they do things?

Thanks

I would imagine a judge would take a dim view on legal proceedings being instigated despite a payment plan being in place. I would stick to the payment plan and in the meantime request a copy of the CCA. If you read various threads you will see the proceedure to follow to start this. Feel free to let OFT have details of their court threats (they have been told off before on this).

A payment plan does not alleviate the (good) chances of a default notice, final demand and (very occasionally) a CCJ. The idea is to bring payments into line eventually. As these people specify that payment is made in a single sum and presumably their agreement states that something like a payment plan would be short term. If they've sold the debt to a DCA it's probably a different matter. In the end you need to consider if QuckQuid still has full ownership of the loan and the DCA are being a 3rd party on their behalf. To me and in my case debt is a problem the thoughts of over 2000& APR worries me. There's been a recent court case of a loan shark charging 2000% but in his case he began physically 'visiting' his debtors.

Erm, is not the agreement that you pay like a single sum the month after you get the loan? If you have difficulties paying and you intend to settle why not give them a call and tell them the problem asking what they propose? I'm guessing they have your current account details rather than the debit card number so they'll call for the cash. The problem is that if there are insuffucuent funds the chances are they'll charge you a penalty and your bank will too. It then starts the viscious circle of a spiralling debt. Panic follows and the letters too. Best in all honesty call them and ask for time baring in mind their interest will probably still accumulate. Always the best thing in these situation si to be open and up front as that will stop problems that are sure to follow. It would, for example be unwise to give the impression that you are borrowing money with no intentions of paying it back as their concept is swift payout and payment.

I've just took out a loan with quick quid, they've said the funds have been issued into my bank account, but my bank statement doesnt show this? does It take a few days for the funds to clear? x

normally they are done via CHAPS so the payments can take anywhere upto 6.30 to show in your account

quick quid is meant to be a stop gap until payday hence the 2392% apr

LOL - you forgot to menton their offer of 25% discount!

Seriously one should consider that whilst this might be 'easy money' you need to pay it back .... fast! The argument for the high APR is simply the paperwork and initial setup and repayment within 28 days and not 28 years! I'd add that this is the quickest way of getting Default Notices posted on CRA's .... for 6 years and then you'll not get even a quick quid or other loan!

Hi, one year ago I had a loan with Quick Quid. Unfortunately I was not able to pay it on time and MacKenzie Hall bought the debt. I paid them straight away, but I still received emails from Quick Quid regarding my outstanding balance. I paid off my debt ages ago, but I am still registered with an outstanding balance with Quick Quid. I have asked them to update their records, but Quick Quid has told me that MacKenzie Hall needs to contact them. MacKenzie Hall on their side state that they are not obliged to contact Quick Quid and that Quick Quid should have updated their records when they sold my debt to MacKenzie Hall.... My debt is paid off but I am still registered owing money to Quick Quid. Surely that most be illegal?

Get it in writing from both sides and then complain to the Information Commissioners Office and ask that all this data be removed from your CRA report.

The only problem with this is that'll it'll take around 9 (!!) months for the ICO to look at the complaint.

The question is 'what is on the CRA files' because I don't think Camilla1 mentioned that other that QQ say she still owes them money? CRA's themselves are a nightmare to deal with as they want to keep their (commercial) clients 'sweet'.

I have just had dealings with Quickquid and it has taken FIVE days, FOURS HOURS of phone calls and TWO complaints emails to finally resolve the problem. What was the problem? Paying off the loan early...seems to be the most heinous crime in their eyes.

The fun started when I called to pay the outstanding and the operator took card details adn 'processed the card' and even after confirming details I was informed that the card had been declined due to 'an address error' so whilst I had her on the phone I called my bank and was surprised to find that Visa declines at my bank had now issued TWO payments to them with authorisation numbers. I told Quickquid this and was initially told that the bank were lying to me then I was told that I was lying to them and was not relaying the information correctly. After much argument the operator started with the 'I cannot hear you' routine, despite the fact that I could hear myself talking to her through her headset. Ultimately they hung up. I checked with the bank and funds had been transferred back to my account as 'canx by originator', even visa declines and the bank say they very rarely see this.

I called again several days later just to find that because of this 'address error' additional interest and charges had been applied to the account. I disputed it and was told that as a UK customer I was not aware of how the international banking system worked. I did point out that this had come directly from my bank and the mouthy yank at the end of the phone told me that they were in error. Talk about arrogance. He then hung up on me. On calling back I got an even more arrogant (if that were possible) woman who immediately started playing the 'I cant hear you game'. Again they hung up on me. On the final call I was told that I had to divulge personal details about the person making the payment and I refused, this resulted in 20 minutes of arguing, after which I was put through to another surly yank who told me that the person I had spoken to originally could not process the payment as had 'no authority and could not access the payment system' strange state of affairs to have as I contacted the collections department. Collections not being able to take payments? Only in America. Again I was told that I had caused the problem by 'not co-operating' but when I pointed out that I had introduced the person making the payment as ...Mr....etc how does that constitute non co-operation? I was told that they needed the full name and address of the person making the payment so they could confirm his identity. I pointed out that as long as the name on the card, the number, security code and address details matched with the banks details then that is all that mattered, to which I was told that it contravenes their policies and procedures. Another 2 hour argument ensued once they told me what payment they were wanting to take.. finally they backed down and only took the original payment they should have taken 5 days earlier, which they did TWICE and then returned it to my account.

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS BUNCH OF CHARLATANS AS THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN MONEY GRABBING LEACHES WITH NO REGARD TO CUSTOMER SERVICE. My advice, if you need short term loans then look up your local credit union as they offer loans at near bank rates and wont rip you off.

IMHO this will be one of the times to copy this and contact the FSA! There are strict rules regarding this type of action. Wjilst operators might be in the USA they must act and treat you as if they were in the UK. There again I've endured Indian operators who have never heard the words, 'rent', 'council tax' and the like but that's another story.

Should you pay off the load this would be good defence considering they MUST record or accurately log calls they both make and receive. If you can prove that their aim is to extract more interest by way of 'delay' you will probably have a good case. I doubt the company would like a visit to CC to sort it out.

The main reason for the surliness is that they are nearly all paid on very high commission only rates, so by keeping them talking for a long time you effectively cut into their potential earnings for that day!

The 'operatives' are mostly home based (from my own research and from other experiences) and are very aggressive - when I dealt with them the bloke kept going on about 'people like me who won't pay on time' when I tried to pay back early and wouldn't listen.

Now you are back in control remember these companies are only there for one thing - for THEM to make money from you - not for them to provide you with any kind of service other than to increase your repayments.

sillygirl has definitely summed it up there, quickquid are the worst shambles of a company, really have know idea how they remain in business. I'm in the position where I have tried to get my issues resolved over the phone but have had the phone hung up on me, their all about the money, end of.

Heck Jason to add salt to the wounds you need to check up on them before making any comments!

Voted best short term lenders and stuff like that in the past. Makes the conspiracy theory come back to life you know! After that you'll find out how unfair things can (or appear to) be.
