Hi Mizzy,

If you're getting benefits due to disability ( but I'm not sure if this is the case for you ), talk to a dental practice local to you that family or friends recommend to see if they can tell you what options you have - like free treatment; treatment with fixed fees; treatment on a payment plan.

Between you and me, I went for a long time (over 20 years) not seeing a dentist - the longer I left it, the more worried I was about going  to a new dentist.

When I finally plucked up courage, I found that things had moved on and treatments were far better than in the past, particularly with pain relief jabs for gums. Also, a bit of discomfort for 20 or 30 minutes may be easier to take when you're older, than when you were a teenager.

Go and speak to a recommended dental practice and discuss the money issues. The actual treatment may be easier than you think. 😁

We could do with some help from you

Hi

I have to agree with the above post you really need to speak with you dental practice and do not be afraid to ask about a payment plan if needed for your dental treatment (depending on what benefits you get).

Could you clarify what benefit you are on at present?

I am a Disabled Veteran and am on Contribution Based with the Benefit System so have to pay for my Dental Treatment but my own Dental Practice offers a payment plan to anyone on that.

I last month after a routine checkup needed £200 of dental treatment (all due to my medical condition) was offered the payment plan but paid for my treatment up front as I could at the time but if not the payment plan was their which I could adjust if needed.

Each Dental Practice is different so you need to ask these specific questions to your own dental practice and I say it again do not be afraid to ask them the question.

(note this is only if it is a NHS Registered Dental Practice)
