UK does not export enough and cannot really afford currency instability or any trade wars after Brexit,

Mr Trump did say he would be positive in trade relations with the UK unlike as it was being put earlier when it was said we would be at the bottom of the pile to negotiate our trade outside the EU.

It would have all been subject to change anyway, as both Clinton and Trump had issues with the US trade deal with the EU that was being negotiated.

Trumps first priority in terms of trade will be to look at US trade terms with China. If he wants to create the conditions where US companies create jobs around the US, they need to make it less attractive to manufacture in China and then import the goods to sell to Americans. Companies like Apple might be faced with a decision in the coming years, as to whether they can manufacture in the US, rather than in China.

The problem for Trump is that he might not have the support of Republican politicians in passing legislation, as they don't like protectionist measures and believe in business not being told what to do by politicians.

Not even then.

He has promised the American voters time and time again that he will protect the American businesses and markets with tariffs on imports, and would revoke any agreements that didn't put America first.

Of course he could have been lying ...

Oh and why did trump breeze past the finish post?

Revenge porn syndrome/cutting your nose off to stop it being rubbed into the mire sydrome

People are so fed up with being screwed over by the established political class that they chose the only option to stick it to them as well

When your nose has already been repeatedly smashed into the poo, cutting it off so the man can have a taste of the poo seems a small price to pay.

I think thats whats happening all over.

In more politically correct term

People feel powerless and cheated and want those who have made them feel that way feel it too.

Desperation and these sort of votes are one of the few ways to do it.

Yes that is probably right. People fed up with current world have decided politicians are to blame, so they vote against establishment. This leads to Brexit and Trump.

There is a more complex argument, which boils down to world economics over the last 40 years, which led to the financial bust in 2007/08 and has not yet been fixed. This is what Trump and others are arguing about, that globalisation is actually causing problems, that politicians have not provided answers for.

When western economies use Asia and other places for cheaper manufacturing costs, you end up with consumer debt that defaults and Banks get into problems. Many Americans have to do several low paid part time jobs, just to be able to pay basic living costs. The well paid jobs that people had 40 years ago, have been offshored or outsourced etc, with current pay rates only being on par with the late 1970's.

Much as I would love it to happen , I really cant see it coming through.

I was talking to a french guy this morning on the train who studied in the UK, now works in a very specialised automotive sector the UK and pays tax and repaying his student loan - partly because of brexit is looking to move out out the UK. Its ironic because the company he works for is japanese owned but was always a leading motor research establishment.

Then I spoke to a lady in the local newsagents who told me she voted out, not because of the single market or free movement but because of the ECJ . I didn't have the heart to tell her that there really was very little that the ECJ and Brussels had changed in the UK and what has been changed has been for the good

Any opinion I give is from personal experience .

Only the expansion of who is included is 'new'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36703037

Think it through - probably only a max of a couple million (if that) would apply - not massively more than the million refugees Germany easily admitted...

and how many of those would do more than holiday ...

I'm happy to pay for either changed UK or a separate EU passport and use that,

Bargain even at full UK passport price.

I would happily apply for EU citizenship as it keeps my options open for when I graduate. There are parts of Europe I would love to move to

Where do you get your info from?

While headline tax rates may be higher in some parts of Europe it is slightly more complicated than that. I have a conscience and would rather pay higher taxes and not see people homeless and destitute for instance
