Thatcher did what she thought was right, but she couldn't have made those choices on her own. She hasn't done anything any other P.M. wouldn't do. Moan as much as you like about the sell offs but look at the country now after Labour had their day! The bubble they created exploded with a bang and now you are lucky to find a pub ...and the High St. is no more. She was one brave Lady and if you think you could step in her shoes then go ahead instead of complaining.

Some of the poorest, most vulnerable people least able to help themselfs are been hit government cuts and so on

Austerity Britain !

Well we can afford for the taxpayers to fund Trades Unions to the tune of £113 million per year, so we can afford this. http://www.taxpayersalliance.com/unionfunding2012.pdf

Public sector unions funded by the taxpayer? Outrageous! I put it that we cannot afford that expenditure. along with Thatchers funeral, MP's expenses, and the civil list.

Personally i disagree with almost everything she did. Yes there were things that needed changing, the unions did have too much power but blunt instruments do not work.

As for people voting for her it is so often like turkeys voting for Christmas.

She polarised society, oh sorry no such thing.

Then we have clause 28 but maybe in retrospect that did more to make us visable than she intended. Growing up in the 70,s like many other young people the only gay people i saw were the likes of john inman and i wasn't like that. I did not meet another gay person until i was 18.

All said,i can not but be sad at someone dieing

Any opinion I give is from personal experience .

Totally agree with you.

Labour made a lot of noise about repealing the sell offs but of course they didn't.

I look around our high streets in total despair - they no longer have any distinct character, just coffee chains, bookmakers, high street casinos and pound shops which are frequently selling things for higher prices than you'd find in the supermarket!

Anti-social behaviour, crime due to drugs, everything nasty has got worse since 1997. It's no longer our "green and pleasant land". I can't think of a single thing that has improved.

Maybe this should be in "What made you smile today" but as we are on the topic here....

I have just received an email of Daily Deals from Amazon and The Ritz is offering "a delectable three course meal for two with a glass of champagne" for only £89!

Clearly their marketing department aren't ones to miss an opportunity.

If only I was an MP! When Cameron recalled parliament early to pay tribute, a move that has traditionally been reserved for national emergencies. I would have rushed back, claimed my £3.750 out of pocket expenses, vented my spleen at the house, and buggered off until next week.

I note the Tory side was pretty full up, no doubt they all scurried back post haste from exotic holidays just to lavish praise. If all 650 MP's had turned up and claimed the lolly, the taxpayer would have been down to the tune of £2,437,500. As Labour in the main absented they took the bill down to £1,875,000.

Sinn Fein used to do a good line in "I still Hate Thatcher" T shirts, unfortunatly they have all sold out,I got one though many years ago..As to the garbled sentences refered to by ifhthsbdw try reading it again Radio Arthur was an attempt to try to put the alternative view, built and run by Nottinghamshire miners. As to the guy killed in the taxi that was terrible, however what about the striking miners who were killed !.No doubt they shouldnt have tried to fight for their jobs. However better to have fought and lost than go like a lamb to slaughter.

I don't think many people would want to wear anything produced by an organization which wanted to murder British soldiers.

But it's OK to wave placards around claiming that British soldiers are murderers, burning poppy's, and calling anyone that does not follow a certain religion as crusaders.
