  1. I think that, as of fairly recently, the restriction of travelling distance and salary bracket may have been removed for the initial 13 weeks of job seeking. Therefore, it's reasonable to expect someone to travel up to 90 minutes to get to their place of work based on the transport they've got available - in this case by car. If this were to change - car has to go SORN or unable to pay for essential repairs due to being on benefits and can't afford road tax, insurance or repair costs - then he should be able to inform his advisor and the JSAg should be amended to reflect that.
  2. I have to say that, when my father spent 2 weeks in hospital in Portugal last October following a heart attack while on a cruise, as soon as we produced his EHIC plastic card to the hospital they removed all costs other than for a series of blood tests - and the same thing happened 2 days later when he was taken back to the hospital. There was no question of us having to pay out for anything except the drugs he was prescribed on discharge - and a months supply of 7 different drugs only cost us about 25€
  3. I doubt you'd have a problem from a road tax point of view but you may find the insurers aren't happy that the owner/registered keeper isn't the same as the insured/main driver!! Feebee_71
  4. The problem is, most councils have a policy that states if you miss an instalment then you receive a warning and, if you miss a second they don't have to issue a further reminder and they will issue a summons at which point the whole years amount becomes due. As you were more than a month late with the first payment and then more than a week late with the second, it would appear that you have triggered the summons being processed even though you now believe you've brought the account up to date. 5. Do you not qualify for run on for benefits and back to work grant from job centre? They really helped me when I started work after 17 months!! Feebee_71
  6. My claim form went in mid-October and I got my first payment at the end of November backdated to mid-September. Obviously that was 6 months ago so timings might have changed - especially given that lots of people will be putting in their annual renewals at the moment!! Feebee_71
  7. Councils don't generally send council tax debts to debt collection agencies as they have other methods at their disposal for collecting it. Feebee_71
  8. Perhaps the 'not qualified' bit is that the assessor is a healthcare professional (dr, nurse or physio are favourite role fillers) but is not specifically qualified in mental health care/conditions. Feebee_71
  9. What form do the statements from 2004 take? Are they just written notes from your mum and grandfather or are they print outs/hand written notes on DWP paper that could have been produced as contemporary notes from an interview? I'm not an expert but surely someone having such statements would seem more credible as having been involved with such an interview or process almost 10 years ago - especially given that theDWP have admitted in the appeal paperwork that they have destroyed copies of the files they held on your mothers claim.. Good luck today, hopefully there is enough doubt for the tribunal to decide it's a case of official error rather than non declaration of savings. Feebee_71
  10. The problem is there are treatments that, for a variety of reasons including cost, level of success and even frequency of surgery being carried out that will prevent an operation being offered to NHS patients. It may be that the surgery is not available due to too few surgeons in the region (or even country) with sufficient experience to do it. Finally, it could be that your local PCT don't cover funding for this type of treatment. Unless you can get a reason for them as to why you're not being offered the treatment you want then I don't think you're going to be able to move forward. Feebee_71
  11. There should be a contact number for payroll where you work - or ring the main company number and ask to be put through to payroll. If you come up without the relevant information then contact your HR/personnel department and see what information they can give you. Feebee_71
  12. I would be surprised if you don't receive a summons through the post as you were doing almost 50% move than the speed limit. Some areas will offer a speed awareness course if you're caught doing around 10 % above the limit but doubt that this will be offered to you. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!! Feebee_71
  13. Surely a 'schedule 5 - header H' fee isn't valid? I thought that was charged only after goods have been removed for sale? Feebee_71
  14. Surely, if you've had no claims in the previous 5 years, you'll not have any proof to send them? I would add a cover letter stating you include your proof of NCB and, as you've had no claims to declare (but only if this is the case), you have no documents to show them - unless there is something on the paperwork from your previous insurer stating they are providing the renewal quote based on xx years no claims and a history of no accidents/incidents in that time!! 15. I would think that the PALS staff member referred to the medical director as 'our' due to the fact he's commenting about him also being an employee of the same hospital. PALS are there to act in the capacity of offering advice to patients and/or their families, to assist with gathering information and to liaise with hospital departments on behalf of the patients/relatives. They remain a department employed by the hospital as opposed to being independent of it. They may have the medical director there to address any questions that the meeting might raise rather than not having to wait for another occasion to bring them forward. I doubt you need to take a solicitor or any representation with you but it may be advantageous to take someone to support you and nots sister, who can listen to what is being said and who is likely to remember smaller details of the meeting that you may miss. Alternatively you could find it useful to record the meeting so you can half a record of what is said - it helps in times of stress to know if something was (or wasn't) said. Feebee71
  16. Ericsbrother, looking at the post about the meter changing I read it as the OP turned off everything the meter supplies for 24 hours apart from a short period of time when they had a bath (presumably using gas for the boiler) Feebee_71
  17. Wi not set up a standing order to pay them weekly then you control the day it's taken and how much and they can't plunder your account. Otherwise, as others have suggested, use internet/online banking and log in to make payment from nots account. Feebee_71
  18. We didn't have to leave our cars away from the house if we didn't need to use it between 4am and 4pm (when the roads were closed) but, there was on access or exit during those times - and it's probably going to be the same when they do a similar road race later this summer!! Feebee_71
  19. We had a similar situation last year for the Olympic cycling road races and have the same again this year - we're told to make sure you put your car somewhere that you can park legitimately and can access alternative routes. If emergency vehicles need/ed to access any of the closed roads the marshals or police will direct them!!! Feebee_71
  20. Hi Reece, One thing to consider is that there are often other placement sisters you can go to for the majority of your modules but there may be opportunities missed if you cannot access one trust in it's entirety. Another hing is to make sure you have been totally honest (not saying you haven't but it would be unusual for a university to place a student in a placement where they have history especially of a disciplinary/dismissal nature) with your university about the dismissal as, come graduation from the course and applying for registration, you could find yourself in front of an NMC fitness to practice panel for non-disclosure of the previous dismissal if the HR department were to report it down the line. Good luck with the other placements, Feebee_71
  21. Images are far too small to be read!! You need to convert to PDF and share via an image hosting site. Feebee_71
  22. If your default notice was June 2006 then the LATEST date the account would have become statute barred was June 2012 so, even allowing for this 4 month action period (something I've never heard of before - though I'm no expert but an avid reader of this forum), they would have had to do something by the end of October 2012!! Feebee_71
  23. Agree with the above as you were only served with liability orders and associated costs due to the fact you did not keep up with payments for all years that this happened. Disputing the amount of council tax owed, benefits applied for or discounts applied for are not seen as being valid reasons for withholding payment of council tax. Unfortunately, for these reasons, mean that the council would have been within their rights to apply for the LO's and you become liable for the costs of them. The best you can hope for (and all you're entitled to claim) is the difference between the band your house was in and the new, reassessed, band. Be aware though, that the council might try and offset the refund against this year's council tax bill rather than making a payment direct to you. Feebee_71
  24. Why not set up a standing order using your bank's online system then you can choose which day of the month it comes out of your account. If you plan on choosing a date towards the end of the month (eg. 27th - or whatever) then the payments would need to start at the end of March to allow for first payment to be received at the start of April. Many councils will allow a variety of dates (of their choosing of course and usually something such as 1st, 10th or 20th) if paying by direct debit but expect it on/by the 1st if paying by any other method. Remember that council tax is due in full on April 1st each year and payment in instalments is only allowed by concession by councils!! Feebee_71
  25. If you we're a student until August you would not have been liable to pay council tax and, as he was unemployed, your ex should have qualified for council tax benefit for his portion. Once you stopped being a student you would have become liable for council tax but, as your ex also moved out, you would have qualified for single occupant discount of 25%. You don't simply remain exempt from council tax due to being on a low income, you had to have applied for council tax benefit but, on a salary of £13000, it's likely you'd have to pay some (if not all) of your single person's rate council tax. Do you know if the relevant deductions have been applied to the account. Finally, a dispute regarding the name on a council tax bill or over discounts is not seen as an acceptable reason for not paying the bill you should have made some payment each month while waiting for changes to be made then the amount due would be reduced for subsequent months,, Feebee_71
