I'm wondering how everyone is treating interest on Credit Cards.

I have the idea that we should be claiming the charges PLUS the interest they have charged us (i.e. their typical APR for each period) PLUS the standard 8%.

Would anyone else agree with this?

Only the interest element that relates to the charges. I'll have a spreadsheet done by the end of the weekend.

Please read back for further details.

Quick question:

I do not have an overdraft and on the statements the bank have sent me there is no mention of any interest charged..... should I therefore just fill in the excel sheet claiming the 8% interest on charges???

I have read and re-read all the info on this forum and it has confused me.... I was ok up until I read about having to put in balance, interest etc, etc....

Dawn,

You should take a look at the step by step guide in the FAQ's. This gives the order of letters to send. Whenever requesting a refund you would send a detailed breakdown of what it is you asking for. This is where the spreadsheets come into play. Email me at vampiress.bag@gmail.com and state you want the Scottish spreadsheets and whether you prefer Excel or Works.

Im a bit confused, I have my statements and I have counted up the charges.

The next stage is prelim letter right? but about interest, which spreadsheet do i use and which one do i use to list my charges to send with the prelim letter?

With your prelim letter it is not necessary to send a list of charges, just a total, but you can send the full list if you want to. If you want to add interest paid on those charges then use the advanced spreadsheet (see my sig below for the link). Don't include the 8% s69 interest at this stage.

Jeep (The Wife & I)

Halifax joint a/c (£3800 charges + £40 interest on charges over 11 years) - paid in full 23/06/06

Halifax joint a/c new charges £1100 - LBA sent 02/08/06

Halifax 2nd a/c (£1500 charges + £150 interest on charges) - partial payment received 13/07/06 (no s69 interest) - AQ filed 07/08/06 - Court awarded 50% of s69 interest (Bank didn't turn up!)

Halifax Visa (#1) Data Protection Act sent - statements arrived - £350 so far

Halifax Visa (#2) Data Protection Act sent - refunded £170

hi Vampiress,

thanks for your excellent spreadsheets.

Could i please have the spreadsheet for interest on credit cards?

Did you request it from the Vamp gmail?

Sorry folks, am just logging in now, having finished work, cleaned the house and taken my daughter to dinner. Apologies for the delay. (Run the guilt trip, or what!);)

Thanks Vampiress for e-mailing me the credit card speadsheet - will be straight onto it when I get home.

Quick question - sorry if it has been asked before, or is a bit stupid - when filling in the balance on date of interest - is it the balance before the interest has been added or after? (for bank account - not credit card)

I wasn't going to claim back interest - but have decided to - it's still my money - if they send the statements and want me to traul through them - then I will return the favour by doing it properly. Cahoot sent me a simple list of charges - so i won't be going after interest on them

Just got home and started filling out c/card speadsheet.. bit confused.. proabably my brain not working

it's the amount paid colomn. I gather, from your notes, this is not the amount paid in previous months, but the amount you are asked to pay or paid after recieving the statement. THere are a few months when I didn't make a payment - do I just leave the colomn blank or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

I think you just need to enter a zero.
