Help.  Am really worried, absolutely terrified that HMRC will cut off my benefit money, and will prosecute me. It all started back in 2017, when I lost a well paid job.  After this I was unable to secure another one, as my twins were both diagnosed with special needs. I am a single parent, no partner or other support whatsoever.

As I had a mortgage and other outstanding debts (personal loan and credit cards), I carried on doing matched betting and playing casino even after I received means tested benefits. I used money I had built up in my bank, don't believe it ever exceeded £6,000).  To this day I don't know what I was thinking of?  It stopped after two years, the money is pretty much all gone, and I have nothing to show for it, only the same amount of debt as previous really.  I didn't gamble with benefit money, and the children always had what they needed.

Now my last two claims for tax credits are being reviewed and I think it's only a matter of time before they contact me about it all. I don't believe I ever told them about the matched betting bank?  I have looked at my bank statements and realised that I have numerous gambling transactions in and out appearing for two years.  I just don't know what to do?  Really scared I will lose the children, have my benefits cut off and will end up being prosecuted and having to pay back a huge over payment. I hope to receive some useful, practical advice with no judgement.

Thanks..

you will not lose your children

you will not be prosecuted

you might have to payback 'something' in a small monthly deduction..or nothing at all.

you will not lose your benefits

wait to see if they contact you and then simply be honest.

but comeback here first and tell us what they want

just remember reviews are automatic and not necessarily meaning anything is wrong.

stop panicking about nothing.

there are numerous like threads here to read

in the same forum you found to post your topic in

go read them.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
