That's ok, it's just that it might have made explanations easier.

 

Nice one on the Debit Card, that will be your guarantee of getting your cash back should a return run into problems.

having trouble finding a comp with windows 7 on as all seem to be 8 now,have to give this laptop bk tomorrow so going to be without a pc till get something sorted

Just grab an OEM version of 7 online (even a trial) and overwrite or dual boot with win 8.

 

Mind you, the only prob with that is you'll lose most of the installed drivers if its an old laptop, and would have to search for them.

win 8 should be ok to go with. if you don't like its interface, just set it to 'act' like win 7.

still waiting for the refund from the other company, they sent yet another computer to me yesterday and no idea why as I said I want a refund, I refused to sign for it

how long should I wait for my refund? I spoke with the company yesterday who said sorry and said they were doing it as I spoke to them, checked account today and no refund.They have the computers back, could do with the money now though

advice/help please

 

I have got this new comp with window 8 on it, I was running Fire Fox as my browser but they did something to it and it did not work properly so have had to resort to using IE which I am not keen on, tried chrome but it does not like that it seems. My problem is last few days the comp is not responding and also yesterday 2 games I play on face book have not loaded for me, tried several times, it is also very slow it seems, I have not downloaded any music/films etc but every page I go on even this one I am now getting not responding or it just stops!

It starts up fine etc but am at a loss what is wrong if anything!

as mentioned other thread, check what your antivirus scheduled scanning is doing when you get these slow downs ie is it scanning then? its scanning might be causing the intermittent slow downs you mention.

also, could try uninstall fox and reinstall. could also try that 64 bit one mentioned.

no it was not doing anything Ford, remembered what you said. I could not play games on face book lol, I will deff try that fox if chrome does not work right, thank you

as it is intermittent, it sounds as if there is something kicking in every now and then that is causing a resource hog slow down?

what antivirus are you using?

what other third party programs do you have running?

maybe a recent windows update that is causing probs?

I have spybot and Mc'afee ( was in ) no updates recently and all have running are the sites I use, IE: this one, face book, yahoo mail and GTS ( gonetoosoon), it was doing it several times a day, done a scan and health check and nothing found

spybot free or paid/full realtime a/v?

in either of those, disable 'internet protection'/'tea time' feature. or uninstall it. see how things go

if that doesn't improve things on its own, disable or uninstall mcafee as well.

is win defender also on?

yes defender is on, spybot is free, I have trend micro installed also as mcafee I believe is a trial thing?, The spy bot is great normally, had it in other comp with no problems but I will unistall it and see what happens specially as trend does not like it

usually best not to have two realtime antivirus going at the same time.

uninstall trend first then as is only a trial, leave spybot in. see how that goes.

ok, uninstall the mcafee trial thing instead. see how goes.

if still probs, turn off win defender realtime protection. also, consider turning off spybot 'internet protection'. do one by one, try one for abit, see which if any is the cause.
