I've been having these thoughts for a while, and thought I would share them with you.. I'm sure it's already been thought of, but I looked around and couldn't see it anywhere...

Would it be worthwhile for one person to take this matter to the courts, and refuse all other offers of settlement?

Take my case, for example.. I am dyscalculaic and have trouble understand bank statements and figures in general. Conducting a bank account properly is very difficult. One month recently I had become severely overdrawn, well above my agreed limit. When I called Barclays Debt Management to sort out the problem, I asked if there was any way to limit the frequency and amount of the charges I faced. I explained about my dyscalculia, calling it "numerical dyslexia" to the Barclays woman when it became clear she didn't have a clue dyscalculia meant.

She replied "numerical dyslexia? thats a new one. are you sure you're not just stupid?".

I'm well advance in terms of recovering charges and will most likely be claiming via Moneyclaim tomorrow or Wednesday. BUT, in light of the story I've just told you, what about the possibility of getting a solicitor and through the courts for the charges and other damages? Or using Moneyclaim in such a way that one could reject all offers to settle and force a Court hearing?

I'm probably not getting my point across very clearly but I think you can get the jist of what I mean?

15/08 - Premilinary letter sent to Barclays - £2565

29/08 - No response to Preliminary letter. Sent Letter Before Action
