Dear All,

I Just started a new thread, but noticed that i am not the only one having troubles with Shiply. see below:

Be very, very, cautious when dealing with Shiply couriers, based in London. After paying a deposit of 3000 euro for a car to be shiped from Ireland to Amsterdam i received a message from Shiply that the truck that was carrying the car had been involved in a traffic accident, and that the deposit would be payed back to me at once.... This was more than 3 weeks ago, and still no refund of 3000 euro in my account. The mobile telephone number which was previously answered by Shiply at all times is not answered to anymore, only a voicemail. Shiply doesn't let me know anything through email or telepfone despite my numerous messages to them. Threre is simply no correspondence at all since they reported the car could not be delivered. It is a shamefull way of doing busyness. I am now considering legal action agains this company.

I found one more complaint on this website regarding Shiply, also with the excuse that goods were damaged and could not be delivered. So i have my doubts whether Shiply is telling the truth or not, and of course I can't prove they are lying. I tried to be friendly to Shiply but now have reached the limit. Did anyone have this kind of experience with Shiply before or am i just unlucky? What kind of action is recommended to take against Shiply?

Regards,

Bo

Hi Bo,

I'm afraid it sounds like you've been a victim of online fraud. We've had several reports of criminals using the Shiply name to conduct an illegal practice called phishing and steal money, often by selling a vehicle/product that doesn't exist.

If you look back through your correspondence in regards to the purchase of the vehicle, you will find that the emails do not come from @shiply.com. Shiply does not sell vehicles or any products in fact.

We recommend you contact the police with any information you have at hand.

Regards,

Robert Matthams

I accepted a bid from a Transport Provider who had good feedback up to that point. I then tried to make contact with him via email and telephone and got no replies. I then had to ask shiply how to request a cancellation for the shipment, as there is no link on there website to this. That took two attempts before they replied. I posted the cancellation request at approx 14.00hrs on 29 June and the email which I quote from

XXXXX has been informed of the request and has been given 72 hours to respond by either:-

a) accepting the cancellation;

b) rejecting the cancellation and requesting a review by Shiply

You can see an overview of the cancellation request at: link removed

If no action is taken by XXXXX within 72 hours your request will be automatically accepted.

Well the courier accepted the cancellation.

from the website

Reason given: User was unable to reach the Transport Provider after a reasonable period of time Cancellation Resolution Status: Cancellation Request Accepted by Transport Provider Available Action: None to be taken

To me that meant on 4 July I should have seen something saying that I would get a refund I waited to the 5th and at 08.00hrs e-mailled asking for a refund of my monies paid. No response from them and no refund given. no they have had 4 clear working days to action my request. And all you get is an automated response to all emails or forms sent from their website.

I did put in another bid and had no problems with that courier, its just shiply that are letting me down. Not sure if I would use them again, they need to be quick to sort out problems or people remember the bad things about them not the good things.

Here go again!

Do you realise that it's a strict liability criminal offence, to omit "any information requirement which applies in relation to a commercial communication as a result of a Community obligation."?

c.f. The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, section 5(3)(b)

The relevant Community obligation is defined by Article 5 of the Electronic Commerce Directive, 2000/31/EC, that a

"... service provider shall render easily, directly and permanently accessible to the recipients of the service and competent authorities", ..... "the details of the service provider, including his electronic mail address, which allow him to be contacted rapidly and communicated with in a direct and effective manner;..."

Good.

Lets hope they take your comments onboard.

Of course there is relevance to these;

c.f. The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, section 5(3)(b)

The relevant Community obligation is defined by Article 5 of the Electronic Commerce Directive, 2000/31/EC, that a

Obviously someone does NOT realise the strict liability under CPUT 2008

I've just paid £37 deposit for a pool table to be picked up and not heard anything from the courier! This site needs to be reported and shut down. I've sent an email to shiply asking for my deposit back and not heard a thing yet! WILL NOT BE USING THIS SITE AGAIN.

I have today received my goods as delivered by courier. However, having read these posts I now realise that I have paid my deposit of £10-098 and my Shiply fees of £14-49 and the deposit will not be paid to the courier.I am not prepared to pay Shiply twice in fees,so I have requested a return of my deposit to my paypal account.I will follow up on here when I receive their reply, hopefully as Shiply state"the next Day".

I have had 2 experiences this week with Shiply! The first was not so bad. I booked one job for Tuesday, and after I accepted the bid, as he was unable to do Tuesday or Wednesday I went back to Shiply who relisted the job and then credited my deposit to my account. Ok, so that was ok...

I thought, try again....2nd time lucky. I went with another driver, who said he could pick up and deliver on the same day, but at 3pm sent me a text to say that due to his trailer being fixed in the garage, he would have to do the job the next day.

My vehicle getting picked up is very crucial, as I am starting my new business next Monday, and any delays right now are costing me a lot of money. I spent the next 3 hours finding another driver, and I am now trying to get a refund of my first deposit, £47.82 and the second deposit of nearly £10 back. Unfortunately I didn't use Paypal, which I now realise I should for future transactions.

The frustrating thing is that they have no telephone helpline, and I am still waiting for an email response. Shiply, please can you refund me both my deposits, as I need this cash for my start up.

I have decided not to use the site again, it's much better to go directly to these drivers, and also if there are any changes for any reason you have built a rapport. I am not sure why Shiply are charging such a premium for their service, when the service they provide is so detached and they don't even do telephone support.

I am reading up Small Claims and Trading Standards, as I am concerned that this issue will get dragged out unneccesarily.

:!:

Do you expect to get a service for no consideration, free of charge?

There would be no complaint to make against a service provided as a gratuity, no contract to enforce.

I surmise that what has happened with Shipley is what happend with eBay; they seriously underestimated the eventual cost of administering complaints, so too many promises were made or implied that could not be kept.

What would you charge, if you had to sit there all day, reading complaints, to make a living? How long do you think it takes, on average, per complaint?

i saw a post on here for a lady who was going to buy a dog from swansea then was told it was in belfast, i was looking for a springer spaniel pup in lancashire saw one in blackpool and contacted the seller,he gave me such a sob story that his wife had died five weeks earlier being killed by drink driver and had to move to glasgow as it was upsetting his kids to stay there, anyway they were only £160 and so i thought ok i'll have one next thing he is e-mailing me about gettiing a courier to do the delivery as he is working so hard as he is now a single parent and for another £40 i could have it delivered, i stupidly paid this through western union to a contact in cameroon which i have the details but was through shiply so i checked the site out it seemed ok i even found two deliveries from the same address as he'd given me so thought must be ok, within 45 minutes of sending the money i got another e-mail from shiply they wanted £860 for transporting the pup by air and it was insurance and i would get it back when the pup was delivered safely. i refused this and asked for my money back i was told no hard luck and if i wanted the pup then i would have to pay i said i had no more money and he said that's tough. i have contacted the seller who has since sent me a few e-mails each time reducing the amount to pay courier. It is now down to £260 and he will pay the other £600 as he knows he will get it back. i have tried to keep on the good side in the hope i would get my money back , this pup does not exist and i have been stupid enough to fall for the sob story.i have kept all e-mails from him and the two from shiply which i have had no reply to my own asking for my refund. i don't suppose there's anything i can do unless this martin person can step in but i really doubt he exists either and the people who claim to have get their money back don't exist either.

Sorry for the garbled rant but i'm so MAD
