Any advice greatly welcome.Last year i went to A&E with cronic headache. The Doctor asked me if I was allergic to anything and i pointed out I had severe reactions to Peniccilan. He then prescibed an anti-biotic.Over the next 24 hours after taking the meds I had suffer resperitory problems and ended up in the resusitation unit in a critical condition. It turns out the antibiotics had an element of Penicillian. Can I sue? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, glad you recovered, you may have a case, this seems like a drug error, but in the first instance I would write to the chief exec asking for a full investigation as to how and why you were given the drug. Under Clinical Governance the Trust should have clear policies and procedures regarding drug administration and drug errors. It might all so be nice for you to know what they have learnt from this in order to prevent it happening again.
