Hi, I posted yesterday with regards to trying to sort out my payday loans - thanks for all your help. Reading through the boards I think im going to be okay at negotiating payments with them all apart from Wonga. Has anybody had any experience with sorting something out with Wonga - or how far has it gone until it is sorted. I am really starting to panick now about what they will do when they cant get the money - I have cancelled my card and arranged a new one. Should I contact them now or wait until the loan has defaulted? Any advice on Wonga would be really really appreciated as I am really starting to worry that I have done the wrong thing!.

Thanks in advance

just a quick update, I have recieved an email from wonga advising me to extend my loan, to which I emailed back stating this wasnt an option and I wanted to set up a payment plan via email - they have just emailed back saying I have to ring them as unfortunately they are unable to set up a payment plan by email - any suggestions? I really dont want to have to ring these people.

Thanks

Rachuk

Hi Rach

They appear to be the worst of them all. I have yet to see anybody benefit from phoning them. I would keep all correspondence in writing. They will give you outlandish charges that won't stack up. I would start off by asking for a copy of your CCA (see template library) and if they won't play ball start the complaints rolling in. Firstly ask them for a copy of their internal complaints procedure then complain to the OFT.

You will have to play the long game with them.

Robjam, thanks, will do that tomorrow. I think the thing is just to hold with them - keep sticking what I have originally said and hope they get the message!

Will keep you updated, thanks for your help.

Hi Rach I was with Wonga myself and I have now set up a payment plan with them which freezes all interest, they have suspended any interest currently owed and will start taking payments until my account is clear.

Hi I had a loan with Wonga, and could not pay back.

I have just sorted something out with them. If you telephone their collections dept and Maybe speak to the same person i am dealing with Max, he set up a payment arrangement for me where I pay into their Bank account every month. Instead of paying back on my debit card (which I cancelled and have a new one on the way so they could not deduct payments from it).

Max also put in writing via email, that no money would be taken from my account etc.,

So I have everything in writing.

Also, having read other posts on here, I did not think that they have Direct Debit facilities for you to pay the loan back that is why they use your debit card?

As I understand it all payments are from a Debit Card only.

I hope this helps.

By what method are you paying back your loan with them?

Hi, just an update, still no joy from Wonga, they just keep emailing asking for payment and stating that they cannot agree a repayment plan over email and asking me to phone - strangely enough they havent rang me yet!

As for the others, capital finance one, quickquid and payday express, just keep recieving the odd email and text asking for payment, I keep replying with my offer - they havent rang - dont know if they have tried my work number but as I lost my job two months ago couldnt really care less!

Strangely enough the other payday loan I had was with onemonthloan (oasis?) I havent heard a word from them, this was for £200 and has been ongoing for nearly a year paying interest at £60 per month so they have had their money back tenfold, not sure they would see it like this but they are yet to contact me and I defaulted on 30 May.

Hey Rach,

stupid question but have your wrote to them (recorded delievery)? When i was trying to get Paydayuk to agree to a repayment they claimed they were getting my emails etc. Might be worth hounding them through letter or fax just incase things turned nasty?!

Hi

I had a loan with Wonga which was originally for £650, with the daily interest they added on it reached £1850 - they sent me repeated e mails, which I did reply to with an offer of payment but did not receive any reply to any of them. I was then contacted by their 'solicitors' who who actually just a different department of Wonga! The debt was then passed to a company called PDP who I have found extremely helpful, they have frozen the interest, reduced the debt to £900 and are willing to take £215 a month for 4 months. Took a while, and received numerous e mails and telephone calls but got the right outcome in the end! I hope you get sorted soon!
