1. Hi everyone Myself, brother and sister recently parked outside a parking facility for apartments at 12:07 on Monday 30/05/2016. We came back to the car at 13:34 to see a PCN from Salford City Council on the window. I took pictures so I could give more detail to were she was parked to see if she really has to pay. Please let me know if anything can be done. http://docdro.id/1ED7Zpn Thanks Andrew
2. Hi, I am having major issues with my bank Accounts. Here are the accounts I hold at the moment. 1. Personal Bank (currently have £8000 in it) 2. Personal Saving Account (which doesn’t get use) 3. Business account for one of Convenience store business, which is a LTD company. 4. Business saving account for the store above (which does not get used) 5. Business account for the two properties that I let out 6. Business account which got opened by mistake by my business manager which got opened with the business account for my properties 7. Business account for another convenience store, which is a LTD company but it’s a different LTD company from my other store. 8. I was also a signaturee for my parents buy to let business account. On the 6th June 16, I went into a branch to deposit money into my business account. The cashier at the desk was all confused, as she could not put money into the account. She had to phone the business team. Once she got off the phone she told me that my account is getting closed and cannot give me any more information. She gave me a number to call and discuss this further. Straight away I called the number they gave me and it was the fraud and account closure team. They have closed all the accounts above. They told me then to wait for a letter that I will get into the post. All the accounts above are frozen. Including LTD company accounts and my parents business account . Total balances of the accounts are £34,000 The letter arrived on 8th June. The letter stated that due to activity on the account they have closed the account. All Direct debits and payments coming in will be rejected. I have to go into branch with this letter and ID to take all the money from my accounts. I went into branch, the cashier took the letter and phoned to get authorisation to clear the account but as she got off the phone . She told me to phone the number on the letter, which again was the fraud and account closure team. They told me that my account and the funds are frozen. They are investigating and could not tell me anything else. Just told me to keep contacting them for an update I called today to get an update but no luck. This time they told me they hold the funds for 30 days and I should call after 30 days. I use to transfer funds from other business into my personal account and transfer from there to my Convince store business account to get by direct debits. I have done this for a year once a week at least. The convenience store sales are £35000 per week. I use cash plus account at a post office as cash deposit account and then transfer the funds to my business account, which equates to £30,000 per week. Last week on Tuesday I deposited cash into my cash plus account but forgot to make the transfer before 4pm for same day transfer so the transfer was made on Wednesday. When Wednesday came I had 20k worth direct debits to pay but the money never came into the account by 3.30pm. The cut off for direct debits is 2.30pm I went into the bank and did a cash deposit for £18,000 before the cut off time and transferred £2000 form my parents business account to my personal account and from there I transferred the £2000 into the business account to get by the direct debits. I have not done a cash Deposit of a large amount into this account for a year as I have been using cash plus Before this I was depositing cash directly into my business account for the 2 years before I moved to my cash deposit to cash plus as cash plus charges is a lot less than the bank charges I don’t know whether the large cash deposit or loads of transfer caused suspicions. On Friday I applied to open a secondary account for Paypoint Services. Just wanted this DD to be kept separate so I can ensure the money for paypoint is kept separate and the DD is paid. Money for the other store were banked into directly into that business account, as it’s a new business and have 2 years free banking. The bank is not giving me any information and is saying we are investigating the account and can take up 30 days before funds are released. I am stressed about this, as I need the funds for both my business to pay suppliers and bills. All the business are legitimate. I have never had any intentions to do money laundering or fraud. Any advice will be appreciated Thanks
3. I am hoping someone can advise me on what to do next. I have read lots of posts on sites where they say ignore everything as these private companies have no legal right to fine you on private property etc etc but then I received a Court Summons. I parked and my husband paid for a ticket at 12.14pm (taking us to 14.14pm) in the old BlockBuster in Car Park in Darlington on the 4th July 2015. Husband returned to re-ticket the car but did not have the right money (only euros) and had left me with his wallet to pay restaurant bill. Returned to ticket machine where there was a massive queue (machine playing up with £1 coins) as car park was heavily in demand that day (the sun was actually out). Subsequently there was a 12/13 minute gap in the tickets. Second ticket took us from 14.27pm 15.27 and we actually were on camera leaving the car park at 15.02 meaning that every minute of our parking was actually paid for. I contacted ParkingEye as I had no idea there were cameras and explained the situation as I believed they just thought we had only purchased the first ticket. They came back to me and said I could either pay the £60 and not appeal to Popla or appeal and pay £100 if the appeal was lost. I thought I had such a good case that I downloaded the Popla form, filled it in and wrote and attached more info and uploaded it to their site. I had not heard anything back from anyone and thought that it must have been quashed until the 18th January 2016 when I received a Court Summons for £175. Astonished, I called Popla to see why they rejected my appeal but they could not find me on their system. They cannot use the fine ref etc and could only go on name and then car reg. After a while she asked me when it was sent in and I said around the 10th September 2015 to which she said that the administrators had changed since London Borough Council lost the contract and it was now the The Parking Ombudsman who dealt with it and the changeover date had been the 1st October 2015. She then said that they had had problems with the changeover, the systems were completely separate and that some people had fallen through the net as they could not see anything appeal from before that date. They then gave me the number of the old administrators and I called them - the lady was sick. I cannot believe that they only have one person who deals with this and I am expected to hope that my case is being dealt with fairly. I have contacted Popla (the Parking Ombudman) and they are going to ask ParkngEye if I can get another Popla Code but it seems to me that the general public are on a wing and a prayer. Does anyone have any advice - feel mugged!!!!!!!
4. CAG, along with many others have been steering people away from Pay Day Loans. Now there is a new tactic from one particular bank. I have personally condemned Vanquis for their high interest rates and being no better than a revolving Pay Day Loan. CAG has seen many cases of how easy it is to get into serious debt with this particular type of credit card. Now Money Mail are on the case....
5. My daughter got a PCN issued by CCTV on pedestrian zone. I"ve tried looking into google map but there are no recent street view of the area after latest renovation project. If anyone is local to area, requesting couple of pictures of the sign post pls and thanks in advance. Probably not relevant but the pictures they've sent with PCN shows the car in main frame not belonging to her. Her car can be seen but it's far behind and on looking at brent's website, they've zoomed the VRN. There are no pictures of signs but they've zoomed on HSBC sign to indicate the location of the site. The alleged contravention was on 18th April. Looking for advice before deciding to part with money. Thanks.
6. Hi, I need your advice I parked on a street where nobody shows the timer this is on disabled and non-disabled cars, I parked in a disabled slot and placed my blue badge, when I came back 20mins later from a dental appointment I was given a notice, I have only had a blue badge a few months CODE 40 "Parked in a designated disabled persons parking place without clearly displaying a valid disabled persons badge" The images shown on the enforcement site showed 2 images taken at an angle so you could not see the dashboard or badge. I questioned this with photo evidence they came back and said it was for not showing the timer, I questioned again that the notice said nothing about a timer. They sent back more images showing the blue badge they had there was no mention of this in the first reply from them. Where do I stand on this? Does anybody know what the codes are for the parking notices, and is there one for not showing the timer? your help appreciated
7. I was looking for a place to park near a local station. There is an NPC park and ride there, with a few bays, but I've noticed there is a road that goes around the bays with no yellow lines, and it's not clear whether or not it is a part of the car park or not, as there is only 1 sign at the back. There is plenty of room to park here, and others do, but just wanted to know if it is a part of it or not. Here is a google street view link which is pointing at the place I want to park, spin around and you will see the entrance road and the car park. https://goo.gl/maps/oJRbp There are no "You will be charged" signs anywhere, nothing on the entrance, if you took a right turn from the road leading in, you wouldn't even go past the sign. EDIT: Here are some pictures of the sign taken today. I couldn't even read the T&C's while standing right infront of it. http://imgur.com/a/G9sOM
8. Hi guys, after some advise on a PCN I got about 6 weeks ago, and have finally received the rejection of my unofficial appeal today. PCN is issued by Lincolnshire county council, code 01 - parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours Attached are the pictures of my car parked in the exact spot that i got the ticket (same day and I didnt move it) Basically, our house is to the right out of shot in the picure and we dont have a driveway. The road directly outside our house has 2 hour parking restrictions, so we cant park there. We have an agreement with the family run funeral directors (premises shown behind the black gates to the left) that we can park in their unused permanently gated entrance. This has been the case since we moved in 3 years ago, and I havent ever got a ticket, until 6 weeks ago. I challenged the ticket immediately on the grounds that I was parked on private property with the property owner's permission. Received a letter rejecting my appeal, but if I provided a statement from the landowner saying I had permission, then they would reconsider. I'm fully aware that double yellow restrictions are valid from the centre of the street to the road edge, across any pavement or verge on public property up to the boundary. The crux of the argument I can see is what is classed as the boundary, and where does that lie? I'm of the opinion, and so is the funeral director that their lander ownership is a straight line across the mouth of the gate, from where the wooden fence stops, and then the metal fence starts. All the land behind both fences are owned by them. Surely this is classed as the boundary and therefore the double yellow line restriction stop there? Any advice on what to next would be greatly apprecialted
9. Hello im new here, just joined for some advice from anybody who would be kind enough to help me. I received a PCN last week for not displaying a valid ticket on my dash board, the ticket is in my possession still, it must have slid off the dash board, The tickets from the machines aren't adhesive just little squares of paper with a date on. I appealed to the company ES Parking enforcement who like i imagined rejected my claim and i was advised to either PAY or APPEAL to the IAS. could anybody be so kind as to give me some advice on what to do next. I paid and displayed correctly when i left the station, what happened after that to my vehicle sureley i cant be held responsible for it. If i was in an incorrect bay or blocking an entrance i wouldn't even bother appealing but i paid and displayed correctly. If it slid off through wind or somebody nudging my car that's totally beyond my control. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.
10. The BBC will make the unemployed and low-paid workers compete against each other for a cash prize in a controversial Hunger Games-type show to find ““Britain’s Hardest Grafter”. The BBC plan to screen a "Hunger Games" style game show will make unemployed people and low-paid workers compete in a series of challenges and tasks in competition for a cash prize. Only the UK’s lowest-paid workers and the unemployed will be invited to compete. At the end of each episode, those who have produced the least will be eliminated and by the end of the process, just one worker will remain. The winner will receive in the region of £15,000 which is estimated to be a year’s living wage, outside of London. This is the next rung down the ladder in the disturbing trend of voyeuristic "poverty porn" made popular in programmes like 'Benefits Street'. Unemployment and poverty are serious social issues and should not be the subject of a cheap game show format, designed to exploit some of the most impoverished in our society for the purposes of dubious "entertainment". Not even the cheapest and tackiest of the cable or satellite channels have stooped to this level. We believe a higher standard should be expected from the BBC, a national broadcaster that is funded by public subscription in the form of the license fee. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/bbc-to-pit-lowpaid-against-each-other-in-hunger-gamesstyle-show-to-find-britains-hardest-grafter-10279386.html And if you're disgusted by that: The BBC: Stop the BBC's "Hunger Games" Style Show - Sign the Petition! 384 signatures are still needed! https://www.change.org/p/the-bbc-stop-the-bbc-s-hunger-games-style-show The BBC states that its mission is... "To enrich people's lives with programmes and services that inform, educate and entertain." Now that mission apparently includes the exploitation of the poor and vulnerable members of our society as fodder for a game show. The signatories of this petition strongly object to this degrading and exploitative format and demand that the BBC abandon its plans to broadcast this programme. This poverty porn is getting out of control imo.
11. http://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/markets/british-man-held-over-%C2%A3500bn-wall-street-flash-crash/ar-AAbtv4n?ocid=mailsignoutmd With the way technology has changed the markets, it does not take much to trigger a major finance market crash. Better security is needed as this could be exploited by foreign states, terrorist groups and hackers, who might wish to cause harm to western economies.
12. The Prankster has alerted us of this... Is the timing relevant? And what is the purpose of it? Who knows? Machinery of Government Change: Off-Street Parking This written ministerial statement confirms that responsibility for off-street parking will transfer from the Department for Transport to the Department for Communities and Local Government. This includes Schedule 4 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 in respect of the recovery of unpaid parking charges. Responsibility for those aspects of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 which relate to off-street parking, will also move to the Department for Communities and Local Government. This change is effective immediately. http://parking-prankster.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/picture-of-week-morely-outpickles-in.html http://www.parliament.uk/documents/commons-vote-office/March%202015/12%20March%202015/33.PM-off-street-parking.pdf https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-communities-and-local-government
13. Hello kind people! Long story short, it sounds unreal but I assure you it certainly is true. In 2007 I took a loan from a high street bank I originally applied for 7k. Then decided to round the amount up to 10k, which they happily agreed to do and the money was in my account the same day. However, the next day the bank paid another 10k into my account (!) I went to the bank branch where I took the loan from and they simply said it was a mistake and removed the extra 10k. Recently I have received a letter from debt collectors asking for that virtual 10k which I have never applied for and never taken. It turns out that the bank still had that virtual 10k on my account as a loan! Now the debt collectors backed off after I asked them to get that mess sorted with the bank and apparently they're awaiting the bank's response. My question is what will be the reasonable compensation for messing my credit score with a virtual 10k debt and all the hassle they have caused me for years? Should I take this to small claims court or any other court? To me this is a full on fraud as the bank blatantly refused to remove this virtual 10k although there has never been a loan agreement on that and asked me to pay the virtual loan which I have never asked for. The 10k has been withdrawn back from my account within an hour after I reported their mistake back in 2007 but the amount has been still held on my record All help will be greatly appreciated. Lots of love Littlebitlost
14. Hi, I have been issued a PCN for parking on a street round the corner from my home on Thursday while I went to pick up my lunch. (See photos below). The place I am parked previously used to have a yellow line all the way across the gate, now there are terminations to the single yellow either side of the gate. There is no sign on the gate saying parking is not allowed there. On what grounds have I been issued the PCN? How, as a motorist, am I to recognise this as a place where parking is not allowed? I assume it is to do with the dropped kerb perhaps? I have emailed the council asking and got the statement: "Yellow lines are enforceable from the centre of the carriageway to the back of the footway/start of the private land, any pavement, grass verses etc being classed as part of the public highway". I don't understand how this statement relates to where I was parked. Regards, Chris
15. Hi, I've posted this on another forum but I wanted to see if anyone here had an opinion. I want to ask this question on behalf of a family member. They have severe mobility issues and can barely walk due to several issues with back (pused vertibae, bulging disks and spinal tumors pushing on central nerves) and and legs. In February 2013 they applied for a Disabled Parking bay to be laid on the road outside their home. The house has no parking facilities it is an old terraced house with a small courtyard to the rear and a small yard at the front. There are yellow lines directly outside their house which stop in front of their next door neighbour. The permission for the bay was finally granted in Feb 2014 after the next door but one neighbour put in an objection to the bay as it would be partly in front of their house. it is not a sole use bay. Our council do not provide sole use bays. It was laid in March 2014. To my family members suprise they returned from work one day just after the bay had been painted to find next door but one parked in the bay. In the windscreen of the car was a Blue Badge. Upon checking with the council they confirmed that the badge was legitamate and that the next door but one neighbour had attended an assessment for the badge earlier that year. There has been some animosity regarding the bay. The neighbour would go out as soon as my family member had mooved the car to go to work or just to the shop and put their car in the parking space. They (next door but one) stopped using the car at weekend and started using a taxi t do their shopping just so that they didn't lose the bay. At the end of November 2014 something happened with next door but one and they stopped using the car altogether. It is parked in the disabled bay and has not moved since the 3rd week in November. We don't know if they have retired from work, have become ill, etc etc. Last week we noticed another car on the street and couldn't work out who it belonged to. It turns out it belongs to next door but one. They are now using this new car t go out daily and leaving the old car in the parking bay, essentially blocking the bay. They don't take the badge ut of the old car as obviously they would get a ticket. My family member is very upset about this as they are struggling to park the car close to the house and often have to leave it on an adjacent street whilst the neighbour uses a 2nd car which they don't seem to have any problems getting to or in and out of. We don't know what to do, if in fact we can do anything. Any advice wuld be much appreciated.
16. I recently, [yesterday], spotted an advert for a 2014 Nissan note 1.5cdi Tekna pre reg with 10 miles on clock for an excellent price £11,449 in parkers and autotrader on line. I decided this car was what I was looking for so went to view and buy it. When i got there the sales man and I presume the sales manager did everything to put me off, the car was not ready yet, we cannot sell it yet till 30/10 2014, its now mid September even advising me to go to their competitors to buy one from them they could not get rid of me quick enough even though I told them I had a thousand pound in my pocket as a deposit and i would pay the rest by bank transfer. They even offered me a insulting sum for my 13 reg car knowing i could not accept it , under £6,000 for a mint fsh yaris T3 .....strangly though BSM were just starting their sale the day i visited. This ficticious car price was been used to get the punters in. I have just checked autotrader and the car is now £12,999 although in parkers its still £11,499 till you open the ad and the price jumps. BUYERS BEWARE AT BRISTOL STREET NISSAN THEY USE A LOW STAR PRICE TO DRAW IN THE PUNTERS. Has anyone else had this problem? I must admit I am very dissapointed with this dealer or perhaps the company directors [A VERTU COMPANY] do not know about this practice, or then again maybe they do!!!!!!!
17. Hello, I wonder if someone could please help me. I was attacked in the street with a pickaxe handle nearly 4 months ago, the accused was arrested and kept in police custody over night and released next day on police bail. After nearly 4 months the crown prosecutor decided not to take any further actions. The police officer told me I can appeal their decision, could you please tell me how I go about appealing the decision and what address to appeal? I feel this case should have gone to court, I have received some permanent injuries. Your help will be much appreciated.
18. I am with Brook Street and last week I started at a company last week but when I left on Friday I received a telephone call from the agency telling me that the company no longer wanted me as I didn't pick up things quickly enough for them. I'm really gutted as I only had a few days training whilst I was there and now back to square one again on the job front . Also I'm going to send an email to the agency to tell them to tell how disappointed I am but not sure what to include.
19. Hi Guys. Hope you can help. On 22/02/2014 I parked in the entrance to a private car park whilst i went inside the building to get the key to open the gate. By the time i came out i had received a parking ticket. The ticket reads: 27 Parked in a special enforcement area adjacent to a dropped footway. Location: New Southgate. At the time i had parked in the entrance of the car park, my car was parked at an angle so not to obstruct the road, and enough room was left around the Vehicle for pedestrians to cross safely away from the road it self. (Between the car and the gate). Also my Hazard lights where on and i was away from my vehicle for approximately 5 mins or less. When looking at google maps the road shows as Goit Side. Although the ticket location stated New Southgate. What can i argue on this ticket? Thanks. in advance
20. hi - ive heard that if a road is bus only there should be advance warning. What are the rules regarding this? I was driving down corporation street in birmingham approaching an island with three exits. The first and third exits were bus only - and straight ahead was no entry So corporation street is basically a dead end for cars - but there is no warning signs to indicate this in advance of the island. the only bus lane signs are those on the roads off of the island. Is this adeqate signage? Spoke to someone at the council and they said corporation st is a pedestrian only zone anyway. Checked google streetview and there were signs up at the start of corporation street, but they are no longer there Thanks for any help that is forhcoming d
21. Hi all, I can always rely on you guys for advice I'm certain this will be straight forward, but I thought I would ask here just in case. I have recieved a PCN and the reason for this was "Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours (01)". This was on Friday at 20:46, in Portsmouth. There was a PVC sleeve over the meters and a notice on it stated "NO WAITING BETWEEN 0800AM TO 0500PM MONDAY TO FRIDAY" (I have pictures of it right next to my car). So I assumed I'm safe to park as it was outside those times. Before I challenge it I wanted to ask your advice, although like I said it's probably as simple as stating the facts? Thanks in advance
22. Been treated badly by Bristol Street Motors? I have, and I plan to make them pay. I would welcome contact with like minded people who fancy a bit of direct action.
23. My insurance is £66 a month, because of a third party hitting me a few years ago, and having my car stolen twice. These incidents will fall off my insurance this year. Now my car has been damaged, outside my house and the petrol cover taken, and two big indents and scrapes along the left side. Also the electrics on the side window have stopped working. I cannot afford to change the car at all, and was wondering would it be worth putting this on my insurance for repairs, or would it put up my insurance too much.
24. Hi all, Hope you can help, apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, or if this thread is in the wrong place. I've received 2 e-mails over the past 3 weeks from a high street bank relating to a complaint, which isn't mine. The information includes bank details, the details/ history of the complaint and named contacts within the bank who have been dealing with it - including the chief exex. The blurb on the bottom of the e-mail demands I must send this back and not forward it on etc. I won't be disclosing the bank etc publicly, but I'm currently in dispute with the same bank and have issued the chief exec emails of details of my complaint some months prior to receiving this. What are my options? I don't want compensation etc for the above breach, but are concerned the bank cannot handle data securely? Should I contact the bank, raising a formal complaint? The ICO? FOS? OFT? The original complainant? I don't want to let this drop, but not sure where I should go? Any ideas and in what order I should make the complaints? Sorry for rambling, I'm still fairly new to this. :?:Thanks for your help.
25. G00gle are using surplus surveillance drones from the US military to develop a 3D StreetView. The idea is to have a drone follow each StreetView CCTV camera car at a height of 50 metres. Instead of the existing 2D images, the new service will capture 3D images using software developed jointly by G00gle and Caltech. This software is being installed in G00gle Glass, so that users can explore a 3D representation of any street they choose to download. It will appear to users that they are standing in the actual street. The 3D StreetView Privacy Impact Assessment appended to G00gle’s Privacy Policy recommends that the drones should not be silent but “should emit a sound like the low frequency buzz of a Doodlebug” - a reference to the V1 flying bomb . Doubtless they will be nicknamed “G00gleBugs”. Potential privacy issues are dismissed on the grounds that unlawful activity is being unmasked. For instance “addresses where grandparents have been reported missing to the police” and “where gardens ... clearly contain areas which have recently been dug over”. The Assessment notes that 3D StreetView would “revive the services offered by [the home security] sector as burglars are likely to become users of the 3D system”. PS - elsewhere, the Assessment deals with the inadvertent capturing of 3D images of adults engaging in nude sunbathing etc., in back gardens, indicating that applying the usual blurring algorithm just to the face of a sunbather “risks leaving other body parts exposed, in full 3D” - as recently discovered in Manchester's Temperance Street PPS - LAs will be able to explore the dimensions of extensions at the back of houses to check planning rules have not been violated PPPS - it is rumoured that "G00gle G0ggles" was originally considered as the name for G00gle Glass, to trade on the alliteration
