I received a letter requesting payment of £***for water rates for 2006 and 2007 which would bring me up to 31/3/08. The letter said pay within 7 days or go to court.

I have been waiting for a big cheque which I received 23/8/07 and thought by paying £***in respect of 2007 and requesting a water metre which I calculate will reduce my 2007 bill by half this would keep the happy. I paid the 2006 bill via my bank on 24/8/07.

I have just caught up with my post and found a claim form dated 31/8/07 requesting total payment which does include that already paid, plus they have added on interest and sols courts etc, an extra £210.

Paying is not a problem but 1) i have paid the arrears and 2) requested a water metre ( have a form to complete and return) which will reduce my bill.

I have been asked to complete the MCOL and need some advice,

Thanks,
