Hi all,

Looking for a bit of advice regarding Nationwide and unauthorised overdraft fees.

I have an account with Nationwide which I haven't used for about a year. I recently ordered a credit report from Experian and noticed on there that the account balance is £205 with a whole load of late payment flags.

Having had no correspondence from them (including statements) I gave Nationwide a call. According to their records I had a direct debit applied for which was returned as there was no money in the account. This caused a charge to be applied which put the account overdrawn (despite having no overdraft limit) and have subsequently been charged unauthorised overdraft fees and interest every month since.

After explaining the situation several times I was told to ask Vodafone (who applied for the direct debit) for the money as it was their fault. I detailed how ludicrous a suggestion this was and was then advised to pay in £205 to bring the account back into order and then apply for a refund. Again I detailed that this wasn't a good option and they eventually put through a request for a refund, stating that it was unlikely this would be honoured.

What should I do ??? I haven't actually paid the money so can't go down the normal route to claim it back. I want to get this sorted and have the flags removed from my credit report.

Help !!!!!

Thanks

Olly
