Just a quick note to say many thanks to all at Consumer Action Group for their advice & to offer a word of encouragement to those fighting unfair charges.

In Feb of this year I had a £14.00 direct debit returned for the sake of £5.00. This triggered a letter & various automatic charges to kick in. By the time I had recieved the letter and gone to the nearest YB to pay, I was charged a whopping £103.45!

Went to the nearest YB branch & had to queue for 10 minutes only to be told I was in the wrong queue, new queue - another 10 minutes. By this stage I was less than impressed & so after establishing I had to pay; paid & closed my account "immediately". 30 minutes & a fax later (not exactly secure or automated) I thought it was sorted - not a chance. The week after I got a letter detailing a further interest charge against my now closed account, which ensured yet another "happy" outing.

Anyway 10 days after sending off a copy of your standard letter I've recieved offer of a full repayment & an apology. The only hitch being they've offered to pay it in to my now closed account! Poor customer service to the bitter end.

Many thanks & good luck to those still persuing refunds.

An apology too. Don't think there are many people getting those. Well done.
