Should we trust Sunak or the next PM to fix the Country's problems? (title revised 24/10/22)

Recommended Posts

Question is when in 2023 will Boris Johnson take over as PM from Rishi Sunak ?  ( I think it will happen, as Tory MP's decide that Sunak is not able to lead their party into a General Election)

And will Boris Johnson take any responsibility for the mess he personally created when negotiating the Brexit deal with the EU ?

We could do with some help from you.

LOL -what on earth would give anyone any reason whatsoever to even consider that even as an outside possibility?

"The government has signed a £200,000-a-year contract with a disaster response charity established by the former head of Britain’s armed forces to help drivers stuck in lorry queues in Kent.

The Department for Transport has enlisted RE:ACT, which uses military veterans to distribute humanitarian aid in war zones and following natural disasters, amid concerns over driver welfare."

They  clearly dont expect to be  actually resolving the issues any time soon then ...

Cant remember how that compares to the offshore gift mone'y got from their PPE company, let alone the total 50%+ profits the company made from the UK taxpayer ... but it was a lot more than that wasn't it?

and didnt another of the PPE pals make about £120M for 30M of cheap PPE

Don't get me wrong @brassnecked- it looks badly mismanaged at a brief glance,

but the point is its peanuts compared to the populists many and epic corrupt excesses

If England were mismanaged only to that extent - it wouldn't have raised a peep and people would be thinking 'eh, these aint so bad compared to others we've had'

This thread or the coronavirus thread? This one I think

Interesting that the poopulists now seem to be blaming the pandemic for the CURRENT NHS issues, rather than the poopulists running it into the ground

Quite a turnaround given they didn't even want to test people coming in from hotspots 9again) and their MPs (Bridgen for example) are claiming that covid is a bio weapon, generating fake lockdowns - and that actually doesn't make people sick.

She must think x-raying young children perhaps to see if they are hiding more 'immigrants in their kidneys, is more important than addressing the NHS underfunding generated backlog of using those very limited resources to address UK citizens medical needs?

or perhaps she just thinks the latter is an added double bonus of not wasting money on plebs PLUS running the NHS down further

Ministers get round the table and offer ... nothing yet

Steve Barclay, the health secretary, held talks with NHS unions, which the unions described as “bitterly disappointing”; Gillian Keegan, the education secretary, held talks with school unions, who said, “there is no offer, there is no change”; and Huw Merriman, rail minister, held talks with the RMT union, whose leader, Mick Lynch, said: “We’re just going to have further talks with them.”

It looks as if the government is trying to deflect Labour and union demands that ministers should “just get round the table” without conceding any ground yet, but they might concede ground soon

  • Steve Barclay then came to the Commons to make a statement about the NHS: he said flu cases in hospitals, which had gone up from 50 in November to 5,100 now, were causing immediate pressure, while the inability to discharge patients to social care was an underlying problem

  • He did not please Sir Edward Leigh, his fellow Tory: “How are we going to reform this centrally controlled construct? People of my age pay taxes all their life and their only right is to join the back of a two-year queue. What is his plan?”

An example of whats wrong with British politics

- a liar and a cheat:

As stated by a high court Judge - and his own family

.. and one of @theoldrouge sources of vaccine misinformation lies

"Bridgen was found by a High Court judge to have lied under oath in relation to claims that he made in court about his family business, AB Produce. It was found that he encouraged a police inspector to investigate his brother, a director of the company, on false allegations of fraud. He also made false allegations about the reasons why he had left the company.[44]"

" In April 2022 High Court Judge Brian Rawlings ruled against Bridgen, stating that he "lied under oath and behaved in an abusive, arrogant and aggressive manner", was "an unreliable and combative witness who tried to conceal his own misconduct", and "gave evasive and argumentative answers and tangential speeches that avoided answering the questions"."

"The Standards Committee said Bridgen showed a "very cavalier" approach to the rules and found he broke lobbying rules "on multiple occasions and in multiple ways".[75] "

It seems to me that ministers still think that a 'bed' is just a piece of furniture and doesn't need a team with capacity to look after the patient. The other wizard wheeze is to buy beds from hotels and other places and ask GPs, who are barely coping now, to look after those patients as well, so they can be booted out of hospital.

It all seems to be about the numbers with no thought for the real people doing their best and the other real people who need to be looked after properly when they're ill. I suppose it's too much to ask for a minister to go and shadow a doctor or a nurse for a day to see what really happens?

Not only that -

Wonder which Tory pal is making vast profits from dumping some plastic sheds, useless without extra staff as you say (just like the 'Nightingales),  in Hospital car parks

Lets see the tender process documentation and plan ......

Wonder what the taxpayer funded 'rent' for the sheds is to be ?
