I instructed a law firm to carry out a review for, Continued Health Care Funding  (CHC) for my mum, who is in a care home paying £5000 per month.

Cost £2100, when I received a copy of the report certain 'domains' were, in my opinion wrong. They said mum would walk round collecting cups and saucers, She can't walk!! And that she could eat - she can't feed herself. There was more, but you get the picture.

Today, I have had an NHS CHC review, and they 'scored' my mum much higher in most of the domains. . The NHS done a proper job, and scored accordingly. The opposite of what I expected.

It's been less than a month since the law firm did the independent review, mums condition has not changed.

I think this is what's happened, I have been charged £2100, they appointed a nurse who made a few calls, and maybe a zoom call and pocketed a nice chunk of the fee for her time. The information given was wrong and when I raised concerns, the report had been done people paid and they don't want to do revisit it.

I have asked a refund because the report was not fit for purpose, but I'm fuming because I think i've been ripped off. I suspect the solicitor will not just say 'yeah ok our appointed nurse done a happy job here's your refund.

Any advice would really be appreciated.

Cheers,

Paul

Did the law firm provide written information on this particular service, before you agreed and paid the fee ?

What information was provided about the reports they were obtaining ?

Please provide more information about the service offered and the terms for the report being provided.

What was the time period betweem the two different reports i.e. was there a significant gap ?
