I've just received a NIP for doing 50 on the M25, allegedly in a temporary 40 zone.

It took 8 days for the NIP to come through and my DashCam has already overwritten the relevant videos so I can't check the circumstances.

I've got these photos.

Can anyone tell me what the yellow lines mean?

They appear to show the position of the car at two different times, but what will that show?

Does anyone know how to interpret the blurb at the top?

What does 'Interval' refer to?

Many thanks!

its the distance you travelled in .35secs = speed.

slam dunk i'm afraid.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

its not the distance that is important (but if you wish to determine it you could calculate it) it's the time, 0.35s, it took you to travels between the two yellow lines which are superimposed to show the start and end of the detection zone.

should a car travel across the detection zone quicker than the set time for 40mph limit, it flags you.

. 50 miles = 3168000 inches per hour = 880 inches per second = 308 inches travelled in the .35 seconds. This is equivalent to 7.8232 metres

Where are you actually going with this?

Are you thinking of challenging the allegation in court? If so, the burden will be on you to show that the device cannot be relied upon to show you were exceeding the speed limit.

You should be offered a speed awareness course for that speed (provided you have not done one for an offence that occurred in the three years prior to this one). The alternative to that is a fixed penalty (£100 and three points).

Meanwhile, whatever issues you have with the offence itself (and it's doubtful you have any of significance) you must respond to the request for driver's details. Failing to do so will see you commit a separate, more serious offence which carries six points, a hefty fine and insurance grief for up to five years.

By the way, your registration n number is clearly visible in the photo you have posted.

Thanks all.

"Where are you actually going with this?"  I honestly don't know!

I was really cross because I always drive at the set limit - cruise control and SatNav information.

I guess this time I got it wrong and, okay, I'm bang to rights and I'll take the hit.

What's really upset me is that people drive at dangerous speeds on the roads around our house.

I wrote to the council asking about traffic-calming measures.

They said 'no - try TfL' (Transport for London), who said 'no - try the Police', who said 'try the Council'.

So idiots continue to scream through built-up areas at 50, 60 mph, but I'm caught doing 50 on a motorway...
