Are you an existing Universal Credit claimant or need to make a new benefits claim ?

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/universal-credit-advances

The  link above for the Governments website contains details on advances.

Universal Credit advances are interest free and new claim advances are repayable up to 12 months via a deduction that is applied to future UC payments. If at any stage, you experience hardship, it is possible to ask for the deductions to be be deferred for a period. Evidence of hardship may be requested before any deferment is allowed.

Remember that Universal Credit is a benefit for people who are both in work and unemployed. If you are currently in work and in receipt of other benefirs such as tax credits, you won't be migrated to Universal Credit, until Government start the managed migration process. Certain changes in circumstances, might mean that existing benefits are ended and you need to claim Universal Credit earlier. There is plenty of information about Universal Credit online, if you want to find out more about this benefit.
