Placed an order with Amazon and it hasn't been delivered. Who is my contract with, Amazon or the third party who actually sends out the item.

That was very interesting, however is my issue with Amazon of the firm that is meant to supply the goods. I have sent 2 or 3 emails to the seller which appears to be in China but had no reply..

If you go through the 'where's my stuff' process, it should either give you a phone number or a call back option.

I've always been directed to sending emails to the seller and no replies fortcoming. I keep going to find an avenue of communication..

Amazon are refunding me but no mention of an amount for the fact that I have had to spend time chasing it up..

Amazon did not want to know about return postage on faulty items of mine, be aware of Amazon and return labels with no pre paid postage ended up 100% out of pocket for faulty goods returned.

That's an interesting thought that if an item is faulty, and needed to be returned, wouldn't the buyer have a claim on the seller as the item is not fit for purpose and that might include postage costs already spent ?.
