BT tell me i have 1k credit then tell me i dont!

long story short i changed a number on a BT account i have and have ended up with a long catalog of errors from BT i get told on the phone last week that i am in credit for £1014.80 then they write to me twice telling me i will be getting a cheque in the post within 7 to 14 day. then i get a letter today to say "sorry we made a mistake" called BT to be told it was a system error....do they owe me this money? fuming is not the word!

Why are you fuming:? IF it's a mistake and they have put you back in the same position as you was before the mistake u have now complaint

You tell us. Do BT owe you £1014.80? Or did they just make a mistake. If someone owed me a grand I'd know about it.

yeah am ****ed off at having been told, over the phone, by two letters and an email that i had money being refunded because i have over paid them, then told no sorry we made a mistake! of course i am ****ed off! who would not be! when i phoned them today they said it was a system mistake, how can i be owed money, that i had no idea of, then not? they said it was due to me having over paid my rental. and hell yeah i have spent it lol in my head!

I'm guessing you're on their monthly payment plan... it's a monthly direct debit of a set amount that they guess will cover your bill. It is generally set to a level where there will be a little spare, so your account is in credit (and they get the interest on that!) so it would not surprize me if the account wasn't that far in credit.

 

They normally don't repay it though... they normally lower the direct debit to take it into account.

 

ask them if you are in arrears or in credit, and if in credit ask them to refund this.
