I am aware of this programme having been contacted by the producers and by two of four people who have been filmed. I don't think that they would mind being named for no doubt their names will appear on the programme, but I will restrict their identification by revealing with a small sense of amusement that one is John from London.

All four have approached Fair Parking in the past, so I am fully aware of their complaints, but having dealt with TV on anumber of occasions, I can vouch that being filmed is not the always the same as being featured in the programme, but if they all are then I can say that two bailiff companies will be Marstons and Newlyn.

However I am highly sceptoical that the programme will have any effect on either these bailiff companies or indeed any others. They are not going to change because somebody kicks them in the shins. A bruise or two won't stop them.

I sincerely hope that this programme gets talked about in the corridors of power. Mr Cameron carefully withdrew from his recent speech he wants to see us all pay our debts, perhaps he thinks we all get pleasure out of being in debt and deserve to be bullied and robbed by thugs and fraudsters. Obviously someone whispered in his ear to be careful as it might just come back to haunt him at the next election so I guess he thought better of it and will now secretly plan some form of taxation or debtors prison for all those naughty people who feed their families as opposed to paying their debts.

Or finish the job by giving them the right of automatic forced entry as proposed by the last lot...

Given the severe effect of this recession, if the government proposed the right to forced entry there would be outrage.

Haven't they just passed something to say you can use as much force as you wish with intruders, let em in I say, they got to get past both my dogs before they get to the baseball bat, or if I happen to be making a cuppa there's a kettle of boiling water waiting..

I keep a rather nasty sword stick at my bedside... as a matter of fact, the hand piece ('knob' ) is made of silver on which my regimemental crest is impressed from the inside - it's nicely made. Pull the handle and out comes two feet of rather sharp steel.

My wife keeps a baseball bat on her side - ever since she was woken one night years ago to find a head poking through the window - I was out of the country at the time.

As you say.... waiting :behindsofa:

Please read my thread, if you are 62 and your husband is 70 and 2 bailiffs break into your home, damaging the door as they do so, punch and hit you several times, if you slap one of them round the face once the police will arrest you for 2 assaults with battery. If they were burglars your could of course stab them to death that is fine, but bailiffs have some sort of protection, crazy old world isn't it?

What I find amazing, is that bailiffs as we know monitor this site and are therefore aware of the forthcoming exposure to their working practices, yet we are still getting posts of aggressive behaviour....proof surely they are as we have thought for sometime, illterate and of low intelligence.????

They think they are invulnerable as the police timidly back their case from a mistaken impression they are on the same side, as evidenced by police behaviour in a couple of ongoing threads here now.

The bailiffs are on only one side; THEIR OWN. They would turn on the police as readily as they would on a debtor, and swear the police were wrong to cover their backs if someone was harmed by their actions. Say, they pushed past an elderly person who was reliant on an aid, who then fell, banged their head on the door frame as the bailiff rushed in, and was ambulanced to hospital. I'm sure they would complete a Notice Of Seizre and list goods before calling 999

They wouldn't just do that but probably if unconscious take the bloody rings off their fingers and if the walking aid was a specialist one chuck that in van too before calling 999 and asking for police assistance as the elderly person had lunged at them and they are in fear of their lives

Let's hope this documentary is all it's cracked up to be and isn't over sanitised to spare the rapacious fee hungry bailiffs blushes, when, their sharp practices receive a wider audience than they would like.

I would quite fancy a crossbow, I always wanted to try a William Tell with a bailiff and an apple, not to do them physical harm, but so they can experience fear, fear such as that they put a vulnerable debtor through when they threaten to snatch their Motability Car, or mobility scooter

The more bluff somenbody comes out with when debt collecting usually (to me) means they have no grounds to be there, and in my only dealing with a bailiff company they ended up worse off... this was before I knew about CAG, and the second time somebody came round shouting the odds they ended up with nowt.

Ths 'trade' needs to be tightened up and the fee structure simplified. All bailiffs MUST be made to declare ALL earnings from fees and they must be taxed at the highest possible rate, that I believe would deter them from collecting over and above what is legally required. If any profit is made above the level of legally required fees that again would be subject to a 50% tax.

Hit them where hit hurts in return.

One thing I've proposed to my councillor is when a council tax account is taken to court that the council put the schedule of fees that bailiffs are allowed to charge on the liability order or in with it so people know if they are being ripped off. I also said a quick FAQ sheet about bailiffs powers and what they can do would also be good (doubt that will happen) and also CAB info, as I pointed out to councillor that yes some people may wilfully refuse to pay but many are in serious debt trouble and everything gets on top. I also said bailiffs are not the nicest of people and are more than happy to bend the law to breaking point and even break it, still waiting to hear if he got anywhere but he did seem enthusiastic about putting what bailiffs can charge and also CAB info. Also made him aware of this site and also the TV show

Let' see if this programme goes in depth enough regarding their irregular actions, and highlights what redress a hapless debtor who is tipped over the edge by these bullies has.
