Gosh, that is a big decision to make. I know things are tight at the moment, but I wonder if they thought this through properly.

 

Not only is this going to curtail grandad going to see the grandchildred in a lot of cases, it will seriously reduce National Coaches passenger numbers. With the cost of motoring as it is at present, this will probably mean hikes in fares for others or the withdrawal of some routes that will never appear again even when things pick up again.

 

It's a shame for all concerned, the Coach company and the Passengers, and not forgetting the little cafe stop along the way. The effect on the whole is big.

The total saving to the government is less then 0.05%.

If the Rail companies have empty seats on the trains, they should be fined. The fares aren't competitive.
