How patient will a lender be?

Due to poor health and being medically unable to work for the last 18 months I fell severely behind on two debts, one a loan and one a credit card. Together they at that time came to just over £15k but I didn't want an IVA, I borrowed the money and want to pay it all back. I didn't go through debt management but made arrangements direct with the lender, have managed to clear the loan but still owe close to 9k on the credit card.

 

I have been successfully treated for my medicl condition and am able to work, but the gap on my employment history is now hindering my efforts and I am trying so very hard. How long will a credit card company be patient? They have been superb until now by freezing the interest and allowing me to make nominal payments, but now I am able to work I am panicing that their patience will run out.

If they have been so patient, perhaps explaining your new situation

to them would keep them happy,especially as your financial situation

is probably still same, even though you are able to work.

I think that credit card companies can recognise a geniune case. They cannot get money from you that you do not have. Just write to them thanking them for being so understanding and explain that you are doing your best to regain employment. Make it clear to them that as soon as you are able you intend to pay them as much as you can
