Today I received a letter from Abbey's legal dept. offering me £182 instead of my claim amount of £304 plus interest and court fees.

There are some things in the letter that strike me as odd. Firstly the mention the OFT because I did in my letter, they say the OFT says £15 is fair, i thought the figure was £12 so mistake number one. Then they offer money for legal expenses £20, it costs more than that to raise the bloody action!!!

I have the option to sign a form and receive the £182 but I don't think I will.

What do u guys think?

thats the one i got today, all that rubbish about"(on a without prejudice" basis).

they cant try to sway us,even if its not illegal do they think we are that stupid?

"Even if it is correct (which is not accepted) that the charges are greater than Abbe's actual loss Abbey would be entitled to charge something"

we never disputed this?but i think somewhere between £2-5 or a capped % is more appropriate

But by their own admission they dont think their charges are right.i.e. their wrong quote from OFT??

I just got a letter from MBNA to tell me that my interest rate is changing from 17.9% already increased from 15.9% to a whopping 27% APR.

Can a 10% increase be allowed? It seems very unfair considering the base rate has not changed recently. I mentioned this on the phone and the girl did not even know what the base rate was! (As a concept not just the rate)

Advice or suggestions please.
