  12. Uriel, I wish the percentages that you stated existed! And no i haven't had the Porshe yet - but i'm close! However, on your other comment about the complaints to Energywatch, i would be interested in finding out more about this as i do not wish to be promoting a company that does not work ethically - i have not heard of this level of problems, so please do PM with me with any information that you may have. With regards being the cheapest. No UWDC probably is not the cheapest for just electriciy or just gas - who is. With the market fluctuating as it has been over the last 3 years, no one could possibly be the cheapest all the time. The customers of UWDC make savings accross a whole range of services, benefit from just one monthly bill, and are not tied into contract for any of their services, so if they are unhappy - the can leave. Something that the likes of Sky, Talk Talk, Virgin, etc cannot say! Anyway, this is not helping Hannah - but i am serious, please do PM those details you mentioned.
  13. All i can say is..... WOW! If i have caused offence, then i do apologise, but as this is a website where people are looking to save money, or rather have it returned (which i have done with the help of this forum) i see nothing here to have caused such replies. I only speak from my own experience as i did swap energy suppliers whilst having a debt (which i had an agreed repayment plan with them), albeit this was 6 years ago. Also, saying to never swap with an agent seems a tad harsh. The company which i work with (which i will not mention again as i seems to cause offence) is Europes Fastest growing Multi Utility Company, is a major Plc listed on the Ftse 500 and unlike the 'Bigger Companies' to which Emma refers to, is totally debt free. Yes, i would make commission on any referrals received - is that a bad thing? This company does not advertise, has no sales salaries to try and cover, but relies on customers like myself who like to recommend it's services to their friends and families, and as a thank you passes on commissions. I only show people one one to save money, if they wish to take it further that is up to them. Everyone is happy. the customer has saved loads on their household bills, the company is happy as it has another customer, and i am happy as i get paid a commission every month - why is this a bad thing demon_x_slash? Again, i apologies to those i have offended.
  14. Personally i would have thought that the whole idea of a prepayment meter (whether it card or key) is that you pay for your electricity beforehand, therefore logic dictates that you cannot get into arrears! I would suggest writing to them stating that was their responsibility to update their meter, and that as the whole concept of pre-payment is just that, therefore any arrears due to the meter not being updated is their error and therefore not something that you should be paying for.
  15. Hi Nicky, It depends on NPower. I have had some customers switch over with me [EDIT] with debts that they then clear over a period of time, and others whereby the current (outgoing) supplier has refused to let them switch until the debt is cleared. It is also possible to have the debt transferred apparantly, although this is not something that i have had any experience with. Good Luck, and have a look at my website to see how competitive the prices are. Neil. [it is against the forum rules to post links to commercial sites.]
  16. Kelvin, If it is for the DPA request, it's £10 and made payable to Abbey National plc.
  17. This is exactly what happened to me and Whizzkidd001. I would e-mail/write to DLA and state that you have no objection to agreeing to the set aside IF they settle your claim in full + costs within x days. (They have 14 days in which to apply for the set aside, so i would make x the number of days left until that 14 days is up). Remember, the set aside will almost certainly be granted in favour of Abbey, and once granted they will defend with the normal defence document, and offer you 50% and then the 100% after you have refused the 50%. If you E-mail DLA then it makes the whole process quicker and thus you will get your money back sooner. If, however, you wish to make them sweat a bit, then do not agree to the set aside, and write to the courts explaining why. ie. they have not expressed a reason, they have no valid defence to rely on, they have done this on several other occasions (me, Whizzkid, Stephen Hone, rambot - quote the case numbers) and that on the first three occasions, they have settled the claim in full without it getting to court. Writing to the Judge/Court i think really helped Whizzkid in his case. Whichever way you do it, it will NOT get to court, it will only delay you receiving your money, but, the choice is yours. Good Luck Neil.
  18. If Talk Talk have taken over the call charges and are billing you for them, then i would have thought a simple letter to Homecall with a cheque for the correct amount would suffice. If they wish to further action against you then you can prove that Homecall only had the contract up until 23rd May and that you have paid up to that date. Any legal action would be futile and they would look silly in trying to pursue it any further.
  19. You can also get Trojan Dialler virus's on your computer that will automatically dial up through your modem. If you are on dial up as opposed to Broadband, this could also be the problem. If it is this, then you do still need to pay the bill, but report it to the Police (? not sure, your call provider perhaps, or i think there may be a regulatory body dealing with these things .... the Police should know) and they will investigate. Eventually you may get your money back. Neil.

    Eyespy Vs Abbey

The bits at the bottom are your signature and created in 'User CP' (User Control Panel). Welcome Eyespy, keep us posted with things as they develop. We are all here to help one another.
  21. The 8% interest (as per the County Court Act 1984) is interest that you can add to your claim once it gets to the County Court Action Stage and not before. So your Prelim and LBA letters would not even make reference to it. But your claim will. Your Total Claim will be the amounts you are charging + interest, Court Costs, Solicitors Costs (none!) and then the total. As you are estimating your charges, i would put in an average each month, and get the 8% interest figure that way, then once Abbey get you the information you can simply amend your claim. Neil.

    The Big push

JWhite, WELCOME TO THE FORUM. As has been mentioned, within the FAQ section, and other peoples threads, you will find a vast ocean of information that will answer the majority of the questions that you may have. If you're still unsure, ask away - we all here for the same reason, and all here to help one another get what is rightfully ours. Good Luck, and keep us posted Neil.
  23. andyace, Wait the 14 days, send your next letter on the 15th day. Thay way they have had 28 days in which to reply to your claim prior to legal action being started.
  24. Eric, If you have no money going into your Abbey account, no payments coming out, what can Abbey do about your O/Draft? Seriously though, If your claim is for more than your OD then write to them stating that the amount they are claiming you owe them (your OD) is in dispute, and until such time that the dispute is resolved you will not pay any further money into your account, and request that any interest being levied onto your account is frozen. Then, when you get your claim paid, pay off your OD and spend the rest on something nice!! If your claim will not cover your OD, then still say it is in dispute, but also offer an amount each month that you can afford to pay it off bit by bit. If they tried to get Debt Collectors or a Court Order against you for the OD, then you can state that you have tried to come to an arrangement with them but they have refused all your offers. This will not look good for Abbey from any angle. Neil.
  25. If Abbey offer you 100% of your claim you HAVE to accept it (as long as there are no conditions attached to it). If you decline a 100% offer, and it does reach the court stage, then it will be looked upon in a very dim light. Just hold your ground, politely refuse the 50% offer, and the 100% will be coming around the corner singing 'Yi Yi Yippee'!
