Thanks Locotus, but manual tells lies:confused:

Just triple checked, and the only hole that will fit a 3.5 jack is the one one the far left by the AV input with a picture of earphones under it.

Just zoomed right in as well, and although it definitely says that it is the same model on the manual. The layout of all them sockets is completely different than my telly. For instance, The VGA socket is in the middle, just to the left of the 2 HDMI sockets. In fact, the HDMI sockets are the only thing in the right place:confused:.

If that is what you need, that would be a 3.5mm to phono jack cable. Looks like this :-

As I posted in post 13.

I sell a lot of these on the car boot sale-its a popular lead for recording from audio sources to pc.

The one in the pic looks pretty HQ.

I dont know how some stores get away with selling leads for 20 quid when you can get them in the £ shops for a quid.

If there is only a short distance for the cable run,and its not going to be pulled out every 5 minutes, then theres no need to spend megabucks.

I knock the 1.2 metre ones out for 60p or a 3 metre one for 80p.

Of course even HQ leads are only as good as the TV or amplifier/speakers.

Many people forget this !!

Locotus. That is exactly the back of my telly. So Martin and yourself are right. I need one of them other ones. Will look on ebay now as I think I have a couple of quid in my Paypal account. Shouldn't be much more than that.

Thanks Guys.

Cable arrived safe and sound today and works a treat. No more telling the kids to be quiet because we can't hear the computer while we are trying to watch a film.:D

Thanks Martin. You are a star (one of many on here).

One donation coming to CAG coffers as soon as I get paid.

Thanks again.

Does your Lappy have an HDMI socket? If so, it does support both Audio and Video. If you get an HDMI cable and plug it in (if it has the socket) it'll be A.O.K.)

Why didn't anybody ask this?

Because I know the laptop sod'em has from previous threads, and the Samsung 519 has no HDMI out :)

Then if it's VGA and the telly won't work is because the res is too high. Thats the ONLY reason a flatscreen wont pick up the PC connection.

If it's an HD Telly, shove the resolution BELOW 1080 by 720 or on that if you can on the inbuilt screen.

not all telly's can process higher resolutions and go into 'blackout mode'. They disregard the RGB signals as they're too high for it to comprehend

I do the same thing with my laptop, use your VGA lead for the video feed. For the Audio feed use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack lead connect one side to your TV in the earphone socket and the other into a seperate stereo in the AUX IN socket, set your stereo to Aux mode, and bang your up running.

If you have DVI, then that carries both video and audio.
