I had a cash genie loan just before christmas, with my payday falling over new year it got moved a day, i didn't realise with it being a day so cash genie were unable to collect there money, the next day i checked my bank account and they'd took double the amount (charges they said) and i've been left with no money for a whole month. my bank HSBC said they could not collect it back because they had claimed it, theres still some money left outstanding, and im scared that when i get paid again, they will do the same. i have read that ringing my bank and saying i have lost my card means i will get a new card and they will be unable to get my money from my account, is this true? i would prefer to set up a standing order payment plan with them so they cannot raid my account again.

also the fraud team rang me (hsbc) about them taking the money, can i actually have them make a charge back?

thanks to anybody who can shed light on this, the main two points being will my new card make it unable for them to raid my account and can hsbc do a charge back

thanks

I defaulted with cash genie. I got a text asking if i want a payday loan with samedaypayday, thought i would use that to pay cash genie. Turns out they are the same company and they used the details to take their money! no mention of them being affiliates.

Also, cancelling the card doesnt help as my cancelled card in december just had £52 taken off it..

yeah, but thats because you used samepayday, i dont plan on giving ANY details ever again once i cancel my card, i just want to know if canceling my card will stop them, i will never give any details of my new card, and only pay by a way where they cannot have my bank details

also can anyone shed light on the chargeback situation with my bank?

thanks

Hi

Money does on occasions get taken on cancelled cards. Some companies can force the payments through. Only a change of bank can totally protect you.

As for a charge back, the banks nearly always refuse claiming you willingly gave out the details. On occasions they oblige but not very often.

Good luck
