Hi there,

I have noticed that I have had a CIFAS - facility granted placed on my credit file last December for a mortgage application that I got approved for. I am currently looking into having this removed as I feel it has been placed on my file incorrectly due to a mistake by my mortgage adviser who along with the company he had, are no longer in the industry.

What I am really worried about though is the fact that the CIFAS warning is placed against my parents address and not my new address. You see I moved out of my parents address last year when I received this mortgage and the CIFAS has remained against that address even though I don't live there. I don't want my parents finding out that this CIFAS has been placed against that address. Should the mortgage company not transfer this cifas from my parents

address to my new one? I feel that it is unfair that the cifas will effect my mum and dad but not me even though it is effectively against my name.

Can anyone help me this is really ruining my life right now. :(

CIFAS at their address won't effect their credit report as it's not against them.

It will make every application submitted from that address be referred though won't it. Meaning my parents are going to get really suspicious as they have a+ credit and get approved for everything first time of asking.

CIFAS is recorded against the address quoted on the application that the lender received.

It isn't moved if the individual named on that application subsequently moves address, as it's used to protect other people at the address as the address could be the target of other potentially fraudulent applications.

Lenders cannot decline applications on the basis of CIFAS although they will use this as a reason to ask for proof of residency and ID from whoever makes an application from the address with CIFAS listed there, regardless of who was named on the CIFAS entry.

So am I right in saying then that every application a person makes for credit from my house hold is going to be referred for a closer look by the lender?

You can have a CIFAS put on if someone steals your identity. You request that and pay for it but lenders can put them on a persons credit file for stuff like lying on loan applications etc. It totally screws up your life and stops you getting any credit and can mess up job applications.

Well I Had One And It Was Off After A Year

Post A Link For Confirmation On That If You Would Be So Kind

IT APPEARS ON WHAT CFAS MARKER NUMBER IS

Lucky you. Do you get credit now no problem? Did you have to fight to have it removed or did it just disapear from your file?

I have a CIFAS faciltiy granted.

check your files, once you have seen them you should have a good idea of what the problem is, unless you've got awful credit and defaulted on accounts then there is nothing to worry about. Hopefully it's just a error on one of your reports.
