Hi

I had the same situation paying and borrowing ptp each month, in the end i just cancelled direct debit and didnt answer their calls i wrote to them and emailed them and kept copies of these explaining my situation and offering to pay them £50 each month and asked for their bank details to which they didnt reply, but at least i had copies of what i was trying to do. After 2 months i heard from Clarity who were brilliant no hassles just paid them back £50 each month even missed a month and they just set it up from next month was £890 now down to £238 plus they do not put interest on. You have just got to be strong you will get nasty letters and calls from ptp saying they will be coming round etc and take you to court just ignore them but make sure you write to them and keep copies.

It will work out fine in the end.

I have an outstanding balance with PTP and struggle to repay and then reloan every month. I would love to be able to set up a repayment plan over a few months but I am terrified about them calling my employer as this would probably lose me my job. Can anyone anvise if they had trouble with PTP contacting their place of work?

The OFT make it quite clear, and in order to obtain a credit licence they have to abide by these guidelines (which incidentally are likely to be made in line with CPUTR08)

i. disclosing or threatening to disclose debt details to third parties unless

legally entitled to do so

j. acting in a way likely to be publicly embarrassing to the debtor either

deliberately or through lack of care

  • 1 month later...

Hi guys,

Not posted for a while but as with KieranLuke my debt from PTP is with Clarity was passed to them after abot a month or so, I think it was Feb when I defaulted with PTP. I have set up a standing order with them for a much smaller affordable (and manageable) amount each month but they are a whole world easier to deal with.

Good luck everyone.

They try to get round the guidelines by being based in Malta. They are notorious bullies on the phone and wouldn't think twice about divulging a debt to a third party. However if you don't ignore them they are normally content to abuse you on the phone. Just stand firm However after 3/4 weeks they pass to DCA (usually Clarity) who are pretty good by DCA standards.

Hi there, new to all this and probably posting on wrong thread.

I am just about to default on a pounds till payday loan as I just simply can't afford to repay the obscene interest rates. I am willing to pay them back on a monthly basis, although I am sure they are probably not keen on this idea. I was wandering if anybody had some advice or sample emails I can send to stop them calling me 24 hours a day, and calling my work (I have a professional job and this would look quite bad to my employer). Like I say I am willing to pay this back in installments and not refusing to pay my debt, but I cannot afford in one go.

Also I have cancelled the DD but have heard that they could still take the money out my account anyway, is this even legal?

Any help much appreciated
