Hi All,

Seems A lot of us are in the same boat here:

Once again Scooter - Jumping All Over [2007][CD+2 SkidVid_XviD+Cov]

Around May time last year.

Same File size.

Same people.

Same Compensation.

Anyone Know an expert we can all talk to about this as it seems the mail has been 1000's of these letters all sent out at the same time and for the same file! Either We are all Massive Scooter fans and we don't want anyone else to know or something dam fishy is going on?! Think this needs to be sorted and fast as i am (and everyone else on here today are scared and worried about the fine's of £500+ and Threats of court orders etc...

Anyone on here got anything that may help?

Also noticed the phone number on top of Letter is diffrent to one on website? Seems Strange? Is this a [problem] or just a law firm hoping for Scared and worried people to cash out in a time where cash flow is low enough as it is?

Either Way this is pure evil.

What can we do now? Anyone?

Dan

Hello,

New to the forums but just thought i would let you know that you can add me to the list too.

Recieved a letter yesterday stating that on 3 occasions over 1 weekend in may 2008 my IP address was logged uploading Scooter - Jumping all over the world. File size 67.10. via Bittorrent on easynet. My ISP is Sky but understand Sky now own easynet.

Initially i was shocked but having read on various forums on the web i am not alone and feel so much better that people have already experienced this and are offering advice.

I have prepared my LOD and have written a letter to my MP so far. I will not be paying and money without a court ordering me to.

Thankyou everybody for helping me in this situation!

i do have a spot of a theory, for anyone that is really worried about this, ACS:Law, may have overlooked one very little detail.

If they say that their clients (digisoft etc) harvested IP addresses for tracing uploaded versions of their work, this means that to become a tracker, their client would have had to upload a version of their work, and make available the download in which to track it. Now, i may not be intellegent at all 99% of the time, but if this is the case, under media and copyright laws, if the client is uploading the work to P2P sites, then that makes the firle LEGAL to download anyways because it has been uploaded to the orginal owner, whatever the reason behind them uploading it (to share, to catch others etc) is rendered totally irrelevant.

on the other hand, under british law we are innocent until proven guitly, so if anyone is worried bacuse they may have downloaded this, don't worry, the only people who have the power to remove your machine and search its contents are the police, and after speaking to a mate of mine who works for the police as a computer analyst in the counter terrorism unit, "this company have no pwoer at all to order police to do that", they would have to contact the police, the police wouil then in turn have to put a case together and apply for a warrent to do so, and in his words "is extremely unlikly to happen, as unless its child porn or a threat to national security, they aint really too interested"

Write a decent letter of denily and ride it out, after all the digging about ive done, and so have many others, seems you will have a second and maybe even third letter after the reply to them, asking for a greater sum, then they bugger off,

take me to court, please! id give it 2mins into the case before the judge chucks it out on all being circumstantial, then we can all go to town on these jokers in courtroom, for slander, false accusations and obtaining private information (through reach of the data protection act)

I just received this morning a letter refusing to accept my letter of denial and unless I pay they will start proceedings agaist me.

The honest true is that I have evidence that I did not use the computer on that date.

Is anyone having the same problem?

My partner received the same letter yesterday, for allegedly downloading scooter? what ever game that is. He was a bit worried until he realised how many other people were getting the same letter. What he did notice, was that ASC kindly supply their bank details to make a payment to them, he believes that there are lots of people in Nigeria that could make good use of that information if it ever got to them!!

Has anyone considered the idea of setting up a special group with the sole intention of bringing their own legal action against this ACS:Law for damages/compensation etc...?

If such a group forms & brings action against them, it will soon teach them a lesson in how not to mess round with the public

It may be argued that to track your computer is an invasion of privacy and contravenes data protection law. When did anyone give their permission to be tracked i.e. download a tracking cookie or similar?

If everyone who posted on here sent an email to the solicitor mentioned to complain and did that everyday for the next year they would be too busy to write crappy letters;)

While you guys are here have a look around the site and see what real s*its are like i.e Debt Collection Agencies and the misery they put people through, you never know when you may need the help here:)

The BBC iPlayer uses Peer to Peer and bit-torrent technology, will they start chasing people who have used that next?

How did/do they get a list of IPs that have allegedly downloaded the material they keep claiming has been stolen?

People...i appreciate you are all worried etc...but the only thing you need to concern yourself with is not paying these slimeballs a penny.

Report them to the police (not 999), the OFT/trading standards/info commissoner..the lot.

020 7898 0571 if you wish to tell them were to go ;)

I got one of these letters about scooter yesterday and OMG i cant sleep now!

My concern is yeah I could bury my head in the sand or send a LOD but WHAT DOES happen if were all wrong and it eventually just doesnt go away, the £500 could turn into god only knows how much.

I havent even got £500 never mind £1000's - I am considering contacting ACS Law to see if could make an 'offer' of less money, ( or buying a rope!)

I know it makes me 'weak' but I'm gonna worry about this for ages now unless I sort it out sooner rather than later!

Also, if I did pay, what happens say if ANOTHER letter lands on my doorstep! lets face it, if I pay up they might just think 'heres a sucker - lets tap him for some more!'

Any comments or suggestions would be really helpful thanks

Yours worriedly

Right I received a letter from ACS: Law regarding Scooter "Jumping All Around The World" cd yesterday and I have been asked to pay the amount of £500.01 within 21 days. Whilst checking thru the letter I noticed the only "right" thing that concerned me was my Name and Address..

They had an IP address which showed the above file and hit time of 04/05/2008 only problem is the IP address belongs to SKY (Easynet) and it isn't mine also they have put a released date of the CD as 10th October 2008 but after researching it on Wikipedia the cd was released on 5th May 2008 and 30th November 2007 in Germany. Jumping All Over the World - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I was "into" Scooter in the 90's but now being at the age of 32 and I do not consider myself to be an adult charva. I used to downloaded a few things (i.e New TV episodes from the States and but I'm pretty sure I didn't download this file due to the cheesyness.. Also my mate parks his car up outside and he can surf the web with his laptop using my broadband connection so does that mean he could of downloaded it without me knowing!! Then drive off..I'm currently only using the Broadband for my Xbox.

Any more advice I haven't replied to the 1st letter gonna wait till the last of couple of days (of the 21 days) before I do anything?

I have also received a letter saying i download a scooter song this morning which i did not and they are asking for £500! Last year i received a letter from davenport lyons also accusing me of download pornographic material which i also did not do! What the hell is going on here?! i ignored the davenport lyons letter and they did not send out any more and now this ACS law group are accusing me of download a scooter song? Should i ignore them like davenport lyons? i can say with 100% certainty i did not download any scooter song. This is ridiculous!
