  1. Can you believe it. A 93 year old war veteran targeted. 23,000 Pounds taken in a few hours. Video of this crime. The victim was withdrawing money when he was distracted by one of the men while another obtains the victim's PIN number and switches his bank card. It was only when he tried to use his card again a few days after the theft he realised the cards had been changed. Officers said that within a few hours of the theft, which took place on December 14 just before 3pm, the men had withdrawn £23,000 from the victim's account. DI Simon Bromiley, who is leading the investigation, said: What is quite clear from our inquiries so far is that these three men were very well organised in their deception and very selective about their victim. They watched the gentlemen as he came into the bank and then carried out this despicable and callous theft" – DI SIMON BROMILEY Cash machine distraction thieves steal £23,000 from 93-year-old. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-35132842
  2. Morning all. Bit of background, took a £150 payday loan from Cash Genie in February 2011 and kept rolling it over after paying my £45 per month. What also happened to me is that the solicitors starting taking monies from my account also. Spoke with them on several occasions to not effect. I finally managed to close in July 2012. Total loan was £150 and total I paid them back was £1267.80 to Cash Genie but another £980.60 was taken from my account by their sister form carter forbes. I was in direr needs then and had several other PDL's so robbed peter to pay Paul. I have finally sorted myself out and feel strong to challenge them. Would anyone have any suggestions as to how I do this? I have all the paperwork from my bank dates , times etc..Thanks
  3. I received an email from cash plus asking to contact them. I did as requested, and spoke to a gentleman called 'Zwelli' who proceeded to ask an uncomfortable line of questioning. I was asked where my money was coming from, and I explained I have a business PayPal account and that all the payments made into the account are electronic payments which can be accounted for. Every single penny has documentation to show how it was earned and where it came from. This gentleman insinuated it could be money laundering - impossible as 99% of all money deposited was electronic payments made by BACS transfer from PayPal, and each PayPal transaction can be accounted for. I emailed a piece of information to them that they asked for, a url link to an advert posted online. Although I asked for confirmation that this was received, the email was not acknowledged. The following day, I suffered further humiliation when I found my card had been declined and I could not withdraw money from the ATM. I phoned the following day, but head office were not available as it was a weekend. I phoned the following Monday at 9am, only to be told by all staff that head office refuse to speak to me and will contact me in due course, with no set time frame or any information or reason to why my account was frozen. Them simply cite 'technical difficulties'. This has lead to literally hundreds of phone calls from myself in an attempt to pressure them into giving me answers but they refuse. They refuse to reply to my emails, and they refuse to talk to me. I obtained the head offices number and when I attempt to speak to them they divert me back to customer services who then tell me the same thing "head office are citing technical difficulties and won't speak to you". Either that or they are rude to me, tell me not to call them anymore and hang up the phone. The department dealing with my case refuse to talk to me at all and when I get put through to them they immediately put down the phone on me. Apparently they held a meeting to discuss the fact I won't stop calling them. This piece of information slipped out of one of the staff I spoke to on an unrelated department, the finance department. Yet still they will not call me and will not reply to my emails. I have now obtained the CEO Rich Wagners email address, and emailed him directly, he also will not reply to my emails. I have tweeted him on twitter, he doesn't reply. I tweeted the company and they blocked me. They currently have £1500 of my money, I can't use my card or log into my account, and they won't even speak to me to resolve this issue. I have offered to provide all documentation for every penny that went into the account - no reply. I don't feel I need to provide any information as I am entitled to my privacy, but I am willing to do it if needed. It is only a prepaid master card for people with bad credit history, not like I should have to jump through hoops when it's an account with no benefits. They will not let me close the account either. I only had this account as I had a poor credit history and my financial situation improved dramatically. Once I resolve this and have it closed I'm going to try and open a proper account again. However this does not help with the situation I'm currently in. In conclusion I am a sole trader, and without access to this money I am now sitting at home unable to work. I need the money to purchase stock and run the day to day operations of my business. I have explained this to the department handling my case and to the CEO Mr Wagner, but they do not care, I get no reply. It is bad enough they blocked my card and account and are withholding my money, but the fact that they refuse to even speak to me is the most frustrating thing. I have never, ever dealt with customer service as poor as this, and have told them I will be contacting media outlets and the financial obudsman. I do hope if anyone can help me that they please get in touch. I have found that they did the same thing to an 82 year old woman, froze her account and wouldn't let her close it until a journalist Tom Hazell contacted their CEO. I'm sure others must be having problems with this company and I would like to unite with those people to have Advanced Payment Solutions practices scrutinised. What they are doing to me is just plain wrong.
  4. I have been contacted by them in regards to a really old loan. I last made payment in Feb 2009 and I sent a SAR request off to them in Dec 2009. They appear to have used the £10 fee for SAR as payment for the loan. Two questions is the SAR an acknowledgement of the loan? secondly they say that even though I haven't made a payment the fact that they have written to me keeps the timeline "live"

  7. I put some £200 Alesis speakers into cash converters in Beeston Leeds last month. The speakers were obviously working perfectly when I put them in, as they get tested every time. When I got home with them I noticed that the volume was half way up, which was far far too high, I didn't think much of it, I turned the speaker down before plugging them in and playing something through them, at which point I noticed the left passive speaker was completely gone. I took the speakers straight back down there expecting the worst and they said they will test them, at this point it was said that they have some guy who comes around to fix things. The next week I get a phone call saying that the speakers have been tested and that they have been blown and because it is not physical damage that they can take no responsibility for the breakage, which I really don't understand. I spoke today to the customer service and on a side note he said they were independently tested, which I'm not sure is the case since they seem to have some guy who working with them all the time. Basically I can get these speakers fixed for £60-£80, but they will not even offer to pay half of that bill. There is actually CCTV off the where items are kept in the back, how could I get access to these recordings edit: I am requesting the CCTV as this is something that you can do, although it is chargeable
  8. As per a previous post Cash Genie/Ariste Holdings are currently close to entering Administration (confirmed by the FOS). On the off chance I complained to FOS stating my loans were mis sold. These dated back to 2011 when I was in a financial mess. Id pay the loan on the 28th pay day and then due to having to pay it, take another one out literally a few days later. I did this 4 times. Now Cash Genie/Ariste Holdings have written my final debt off (I owed £473) as they admitted there was no cooling off period in between loans being paid and re taken out. :-):-)
  9. 10. I apologise if there is a sub forum on this issue but I couldnt find it. I have two pensions an excellent Company one with a considerable pot available which I dont intend to touch and another one from a company I worked for over 20 years ago. It is run by Standard Life. I have about 14k in there and when I spoke to them they said on April 6th I could apply to have it transfered to my bank account. So far so good. My yearly pre-tax income is about 20k but I keep reading conflicting information about how much tax I would have to pay on my cash in. Is there anywhere I can find a calculator ( I have looked) or can give me some advice. Thanks.
  11. Good news, Cash Genie will no longer issue any loans at all, so hopefully less people will get in trouble in the future, just got this email out of the blue:
  12. Hi all some advice needed, last Thursday went to withdraw £350 from my local Barclays at 6am only for the machine to make lots of noise then "Thank You" and the cash draw opened and closed with no cash. The machine then displayed "out of order" so i went along to the next cash point but the £350 had been taken from my account. So at 10am i went into the branch and noticed the cash point was still out of order the cashier told me there was indeed a problem with the cashpoint and the withdrawal should right itself overnight it was not there in the morning so went back in only to be told i should contact my own bank. On doing this i had to answer lots of questions and was then told it would take up to 2 weeks to resolve the matter as they had to contact Barclays and wait for them to reply. Now £350 may be nothing to some but this was my weeks wages and i have bills to pay and shopping to get in my bank say they have to wait for Barclays and Barclays are saying they have to purge ? the cashpoint no one seems to care i have been left with nothing what can i do
  13. Hi All, I don't know if anyone can help. In 2009 i had a payday loan from Rapid Cash based in Manchester. My husband had just been made redundant and we were majorly struggling. In the end they lodged a CCJ against me which is for £325. I want to make them a one off offer of settlement as i need it to show as satisfied on my file for my mortgage application but i can't get hold of them !! Are they still trading and if so is there a website for them? If i can't get hold of them to pay, what do i do about the CCJ as its on there until next year and i really need to show it as paid . Any advice would be grateful. There must be other instances where a company lodges a CCJ then goes bust themselves leaving the defendant with no way of paying it off! Regards Shelley
  14. Looking for some advice for a friend of mine. He works within a department of between 10-15 people. The work all over the Midlands area covering diffrent stores. At the end of each season a cash bonus is paid to them providing targets are met. Some stores clear target when some struggle to make it anywhere near, they work out the bonus based on which stores you have covered 80% of the time. Some people work a variety of stores whilst a select few are allowed to be based at one store only. They find any excuse not to move these stores as they know and often boast about how they will be guranteed bonus if they stay put there. They are all on the same contract which dictates you will be required to move yet the employer chooses not to enforce these terms of employment, I guess for a quiet life? My friend has been told basically it is tough when he has had issues before about moving, yet these select few get away with it and no excuse they provide to not move is challenged. Is this fair? Are they allowed to do this? Many thanks in advance for any advice
  15. Hello I am currently going through the reclaiming of PPI from Halifax.. but I am also considering applying for additional compensation to help me make repayments of the loan, I took out a loan through B O S ( Halifax), but insisted on a sound and secure insurance protection.. Reason being that I had a Stroke a couple of years previous and wanted to protect myself.. I was also Self Employed!! So as to kept this first step short. . I went to great lengths to cover myself, and now I have been ill again. . second minor Stroke the Halifax has told me " I am not Covered.. As I had a previous Stroke" Can I ask/Demand additional Compensation to cover the problems I am now experiencing because of the false information given at the time. . I think I have a case, I have the Transcripts from a telephone conversation, Where I ask if a previous medical Condition will effect the policy and the reply being " Not if its over 12 months since you had the Problem ( 1st Stroke) It is also states that I quoted " If I cant have a policy that gives me 100% protection, I don't want ANY loan or credit. So Far I have been ignored by both Halifax Insurance and BoS Any advise or information would be invaluable
  16. Hello all, Has anyone had any dealings with this company? One of my last PDL debts that i am trying to pay off. On their website they claim to not lend online anymore and have limited contact information. I called to offer a payment plan but they advised they do not have a bank account number i can pay into via standing order and asked for my debit card which naturally i did not give. i could sent a postal order but find it strange they will bnot give me bank details. has anyone else had the same issue?

Thanks in advance as always
  18. I had to resign from my job of almost 2 years for being accused of all the cash shortages that has happened in our department. I didn't get any copies of any kind of paperwork and all I remember signing was the resignment form. I'm wanting to know if I have to pay them $1000 like they said and then only gave me 3 weeks to pay. By the way I was only making $7.75/hr. Please anyone if you know anything about what I need to know get back with me ASAP! Thank you.
  19. http://www.fca.org.uk/static/documents/requirement-notices/ahl-vreq.pdf Looks like the FCA are beginning to show their teeth. 3 issues noted with AHL/Cash Genie. (a) a systems weakness and other matters that may have allowed unauthorised charges to be applied to AHL customers' accounts; (b) potential misuse of banking information provided to affiliated websites to repay outstanding debts of existing AHL customers who are in arrears; and © a number of issues in relation to the refinancing (I.e. rolling over) of customers' loans. The regulator has instructed CG to carry out a S166, where they have toa ppoint an independent 3rd party to ensure the remediation work is carried out in a fair manner. CG will undertake (a) an Investigation to Identify whether or not consumers have been affected by any breaches of contractual and/or regulatory obligations applicable at the relevant time as a result of the Issues Identified In paragraph 1.2 and, If so, the extent; and (b) a scheme for assessing the redress that would be appropriate in any Instances of breach
  20. Hi there, On 13 November at 6:14 pm I tried to withdraw £200 from HSBC cash point in Richmond. 2 attempts failed and each time I received error message. The only difference was in second attempt the lid opened but nothing came out apart from fresh air. Next day I went to the branch and explained what happened. One of the staff told me, don't worry, you will get your money back as it happened before. I explained what happened and they told me in 2 weeks time I should get my money back. Now after more than 2 weeks, nothing happened and on Saturday when I went to the branch again and asked for a manager, one of the staff told me he is busy now but I will ask him to give you a call. Then, nothing happened, he didn't bother to call me. my question is what should I do now? And how can I take a legal action and where should I go? Many thanks, Sirous
  21. Hi CAG I took out a cashplus card last year and applied the creditbuilder option to my account with them. However over the past few months as it is not a card I ever really use I didn't have the 4.95 they request each month as part of the credit builder. Which left my account in arrears of a mere £39.00 I topped up my account on Sept 30th with £39 to cover the arrears and then sent them an email confirming that I had done so following the directions they had given me when chasing the £39. On oct 7th I checked my credit file and noticed that they had put a default on and had the £39 as outstanding. I logged in to my cashplus account and it clearly states that the debt had been cleared and shows the transactions where they debited my account on october 6th. I called cashplus to query this and they said that they can see that I have deposited £39 on the 30/09/2014 but a DD (Amazon Prime that was cancelled off that account literally the day after it was put on) attempted to take money out of my account (which isnt shown anywhere on my statement, nor was the account taken into a negative balance) which apparently meant that they could only debit my account on october 6th - This confuses me as the default was entered on Oct 5th - even though they knew the debt was cleared. To conclude the woman at the end of the phone said that she will put a request though to head office explaining the situation and for the default to be removed. I asked to have this in writing that and she said they cant do that all they can do is put a note on my file for this call. I have checked my experian today and it is still on there, can anybody give me some advice on how to handle this as I do not trust that they will be removing the default due to the sneaky way that it was applied! Any advice would be truly appreciated!
