  1. This is my story . I had a £16 a month sim only contract with tmobile for 2gb of data ,1000mins and unlimited text. My contract was due to end on October 28th. In september i got a bill from tmobile saying i had to pay about £158 for internet usage , which they promptly took by direct debit. With this incident I decided I would leave t-mobile > I called in to cancel my contract as i knew October was the last month, they refused to cancel and said I had to give them a months notice and since I was telling them to cancel in October , I will have to wait another month till November to cancel. I said fine and they gave me a date in November and sent me my PAC codes. I now signed up with another provider O2 and O2 advised that on November 12 they would transfer my t-mobile number to their network. today i received a bill from t-mobile charging me Over £3000 for internet use on the day I was transfered to O2. They are charging £7 per mb for 483mb which they claim was outside my 2gb allowance resulting to £3088. I was shaking. I called them and they said the internet was on the 12th of November the same day O2 transfered my number. I complained to them on the phone that this cannot be and complained. They said they will investigate in 3 to 2weeks. Meanwhile they plan to take the money from my account on the 30th. Now if they dont get the money they will default my credit rating. Please what can i do. I have a nagging feeling that this charge was to punish me for leaving them. I also read that the EU had capped the charge of internet charging on any phone in the EU to 50euros....£42 how come t-mobile if this bill was indeed true can charge me £3000. How come they did not inform me that the cost of out of allowance charges was £7 a mb. How come they did send an alert to say i have exceed my limit. I also read that the amount for data usage is about 0.20 euros...as stated by EU regulations. .how come tmobile is charging £7.....is this correct . I am worried that they will mess up my credit file if they dont get this money .. ...what can i do . ..i dont earn enough to pay that kind of money for anything. Should i take a loan to pay them to stop them messing up my credit file. Please some one help me. I cant sleep now....i have to go to work tomorrow and with this shock i cant
  2. Sorry if this is in wrong section, feel free to redirect. My daughters having problems with Sky. They agreed verbally that if she paid part of her monthly bill that if she paid part of her bill they wouldn't cut her off and she could make the difference up in the next bill. She therefore reversed part of her card payment leaving approx £63 with the Sky and £25 reverting back to her bank account. Sky insists the whole £88 was returned to her bank and her bank insists that only £25 was returned to her account. Sky cut her TV etc off for non payment and she's now getting threats from a DCA on behalf of Sky. Neither Sky or the bank will alter their position. She stopped paying them altogether as far as she's concerned they're in breach of contract for cutting her off and mislaying her money. I intend to make a complaint to the communication ombudsman but not sure what else can be done if both the bank or Sky are adament of their position. Any suggestions?
  3. This may sound silly, but the other day i was on a site that apparently wants me to upgrade to a later version. my question is how do i know what version my computer has on it currently? i have no idea where to find this information so i dont even know if i have the latest one for my windows system or not. does anyone know also if theres a charge for upgrading to the latest version? although ive had this computer for a while its mainly been used for games and stuff which is why i only recently got the internet as my games are cd based and havent needed online.
  4. I booked a holiday online on the 23rd april to Dubai with Thomas cook. I have just found out today ( when I received my credit card statement ) that they have not charged my credit card and the holiday was a system error ! so tough - the holiday does not exist !!!!! I have a confirmation email with all the details of the holiday on it but now they are saying it is a mistake ! what can I do ?
  5. Interesting epetition just found.Personally i am sick of seeing gambling adverts on TV. Trying to draw people in.I have never really looked at it before so just had a quick look round and it is surprising how big some of these companies are.Are more people getting addicted,i do not know, perhaps you do. Everyone in the adverts is so happy but how many are being taken in,getting into difficulties,do you know. But the sheer amount of money now being spent on TV advertising must be paying off.It is everywhere you look. Just in case anyone is interested.Only got 70 signatures . http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/45780 But so much revenue to be gained by the TV companies. And perhaps causing troubles for some. Due to what seems to be a booming industry this is why i have started this thread.Have your say. 100,000 signatures is a tall order but at least some of your views or if you have seen any newspaper articles or know anyone in trouble would be interesting.Post them here.A new area for myself,so could do with a little help. You get a feeling there is something of the night about it all. Agree or disagree, have your say.Just trying to find out.Which we will. Just what is going on . Thanks. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/45780
  6. In another thread a member asked if paying with a credit card would be a better option compared to say a debit card - which inspired me to share this, as I thought it was common knowledge that credit cards offer greater protection on purchases than standard bank issue debit cards. When you buy something on a credit card, you are essentially purchasing the goods on finance. Credit laws in the UK means that credit providers such as Visa and Mastercard become jointly liable to you, to ensure that you receive the goods that you paid for, in satisfactory condition. In practical terms, this means that if the shop you ordered something from were to go bust, or they didn't deliver the goods, or they did but were in poor condition or significantly not as described, then you could seek compensation from the credit card issuer (a full refund) if attempts to resolve any disputes with the retailer don't work out. Plus, when you use your credit card details online instead of your bank debit details, if any unscrupulous persons were to get hold of your card details, they could potentially try to purchase other items at your expense - but if you paid by credit card, it will be easier to resolve the matter as the credit card company wont hold you liable for any fraudulent payments. If you do pay by credit card, take care to pay off your balance in full to avoid paying interest charges. The following link leads to an infographic poster about credit cards, shopping online and cyber crime, with some interesting facts about shopping presented in the form of an illustration. Edit: Removed advertising and link whilst permission being sought
  7. Hi guys, suffering with a really bad back which wakes me up in pain after about 4 hours sleep. I am hoping that a new mattress will help the problems and have found one on the internet which I think will be ok. If I buy it, the seller says I would have to sleep on it for a night STILL IN ITS PACKAGING and return it if it wasn't right. How can anyone try a product such as a mattress without taking it out of the packaging? I doubt it would sit on the bed frame without unpacking it first!! And anyway it might take several nights for me to decide whether its right for me. Should I take the risk of buying, unpacking and trying, then repacking and returning if not right??? Please help, don't want to spend £350 and still be in pain.:???:
  8. I wonder if anyone has come across this weird one. After a series of issues leading to BT engineers coming to "fix the fault" ( This included the engineer waffling about going to the main exchange and changing our main box to the "new style") we have been left with a really odd internet connection. When plugged into the test plug everything works fine - although still a slower speed than before the fault (around 6000). When plugged into another line in the house the speed varies from nothing at all up to 2000. I guess this implies that the fault is with the internal wiring, although I am convinced that he just wired it up wrongly in the new box as this wasn't a problem before. Here's the weird bit though - when we ring Utility Warehouse (who provide our BT line) on the 0845 number, or when they ring us on the same number our speed jumps up to 6000+. When the call disconnects it gradually goes back down again to 1000 / off completely. Can anyone tell us what's going on? Utility warehouse certainly can't - it's taken 5 phone calls to persuade them to order out another engineer.
  9. Hi all, My Customer Subscriber ID: xxx TT Number: xxx Appellate TT Number: xxx My internet is down since more than past 7 days i.e. since the morning of 13th July, 2013. My Customer Subscriber ID is xxx. I registered a complaint 205819488 on the morning of 14th July, 2013 at 9 am with a person named Bhushan in your Wimax Dept. He said there was problem with Base Stations in Pune and all others except my area station are up. I asked for a resolution time and he said it will be up by 1-2 hours with a 4 hours max deadline. I asked for a complaint number but he said there was no need to register complaint. I insisted and he gave me saying that without ticket, my issue would be resolved in 4 hours and with ticket in 24 hours. I called again after 4 hours i.e. at 2 pm on 14th July, 2013 as Internet was still not Up. He said he has no update. I asked him to transfer call to Floor Supervisor, he wrongly transferred to Broadband Dept, where Kaushik transferred to Sneha, who said she was Floor Supervisor. She promised Net would be up in 24 hours i.e. by 9 am on 15th July, 2013 as she will send a an Engineer to look into the issue. No Engineer from Reliance came to my home as promised. But Internet at my home is still down now at 12 pm on 16th July, 2013. I do not understand why no one gave me a correct resolution deadline and why Internet is still down. I am already paying a high amount for internet as you dont give Broadband in my area but only Wimax. I will have to cut the payment in the bill for this month for as many days as the net is down. I have emailed you daily and have got a few calls from your officers saying issue will be resolved in a day or 2 day before yesterday. But there is no resolution yet. Its highly inconvenient for me and appalling service from Reliance! When will my Internet START WORKING???? WHAT the HELL is going on? My Reliance Wimax Internet is down since 7 days now and its been 6 days since I registered a complaint. Your resolution time for complaints is 24 hours and its extremely appalling that no action has been taken from your side. Several promises were made and none of them has been fulfilled. I want to discontinue the service of Reliance if Internet is not up by tomorrow.
  10. I currently pay £31 a month for Plusnet Fibre broadband, their cheapest 40MB 40GB package. Been a customer for 2 years along with my Mum and no complaints. Been looking at other deals on the internet and I've noticed that EE do a similar deal but unlimited at the same price, Talk Talk do the same for £31.45. Virgin internet only deals are cheaper too and they're basic starter package is only £33. I'm tempted to go to Plusnet and squeeze them for something extra due to these other packages I've found, has anyone tried this with their provider and succeeded? Know it sometimes works with mobile phone companies when contracts are up for renewal.
  11. So I recently moved house - called bt and they said sure we an oe the internet to new house - but you have to take out a new contract - which i did (18 months) They said I would get 3-6 bps but I getting less than 1 - Is there anything I can do?
  12. Just a quick moan about r mail. i work for and use internet retail sites as iam sure most people do. As a user of their services i have seen at first hand their shoddy attitude to fullfilling online retailers promises. example one.... guy orders item for next day before 9am we as a company get charged £50 for the service. guy calls following day at 9.35 calling our company all the names under the sun, We contact royal mail to find out what went wrong, answer fill in a claims form!!!. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES. .Example two i purchased an item from an online retailer and paided £6.00 for next day express delivery this was on thursday as nothing has turned up as yet (sat evening) i will now be looking at tuesday earlest(item was needed over weekend). How does this company manage to continue trading, hilst dragging all the firms it does business with down with their appealing standards.

  14. Recently I posted on a totally different website regarding problems with my gym membership contract. I was very vague with my personal details (as I always am when posting on the Internet) and am going to be forced to be even more vague here. The only details I gave were my first name (which was part of my username) and the month which I signed up for the gym membership, which was involved to give a timescale so other users could help me with my problems in cancelling the membership. The contract itself was taken out with a certain company, which I named in my original post as I noticed many others had posted with their own problems with the same company on that particular forum. Assuming that this would be OK, I described my situation (not insulting or otherwise slandering the company in any way and not giving ANY other personal information e.g location, gym name, etc), simply asking what the best way to proceed would be to help solve the problem as fast as possible since I wasn't getting any luck from customer service. A day after I'd posted I received a call from this company, telling me that they had discovered that I'd posted something on the internet regarding my gym membership (they stated my specific location/details so I was fairly sure it wasn't a [problem] call and was the actual company my contract was with) and that they were investigating the matter since I'd been given incorrect information. When I demanded to know how they had found out that it was me who posted, they simply said that by taking my first name and the general month that I'd joined with them gave them all the information they needed to call me up. Is this lawful? Was I just being incredibly stupid to put my first name and the general month on the post? Is it possible that they would be able to find this out from some random forum on the internet with no proof that it was me? I am really creeped out by this, I might just be being totally naive but it seems pretty suspicious :/
  15. I have been overcharged by THREE for mobile internet access. Knowing that I was running low on internet allowance on the 10th February 2013, I checked at the beginniing of the day and found that I had approx 350MB of allowance left on my account using the My3 function. During the day I logged out several times to update the information on the My3 to ensure that I did not go over my allowance as I know how expensive it is. I was satisfied that I had not gone over my allowance. However, come after midnight I had an email that I had gone over. I sent an email the same day stating that I had not gone over my allowance. Looking at the dashboard the graph showing daily allowance indicated an upload of 36.8MB and a download of 231.6Mb, a total of 268.4MB for the day which was about correct for the usage I had. I then found out that the itemised bill indicated a usage of 454MB for that day, a difference of 185.6MB. I have been overcharged about £16.00 as a result of apparently going over the allowance. They have since called me on three occassions confirming that the charge is valid. I have asked to explain why there is a difference between the dashboard and the itemised bill. They can only state that the dashboard is not accurate and that I should have checked with the My3 function. This is what I was doing. They stated that the back room staff confirmed the 454MB to be correct although I know that the 268.4MB is the more accurate figure as I was careful not to have heavy usage on the last day. They have offered to refund half but I keep on telling them I have not gone over my allowance so no charges are applicable. I have found them to be most unhelpful and I will be looking for an alternative supplier of my mobile broadband. I consider THREE are charging for usage which I have not used and I have no faith in them as a supplier and I do not trust them with my account details.
  16. my internet speed has gone rather slow, 15 meg. I have BT infinity and normally get 40 meg speed and use Firefox as a browser. i went onto internet explorer and started the same BT speed test for which i end up with 37.5 meg looking into this, i have kaspersky internet security, i disabled protection and ran the speed test again on firefox and ended up with not 15 meg, but 38 meg speed. the conclusion reached is that kaspersky for some reason throttles down your internet speed on firefox, but leaves internet explorer alone. any ideas
  17. Hi guys, I have a friends netbook because she couldn't connect to the internet (not even with the ethernet cable). I tried it on mine and it is the same. It detects networks and successfully connects to the router (wirelessly), but it still will not connect to the internet. I have checked the ethernet and wirless drivers (device mngr) but can't see any problems. A scan with Malware Bytes has come up clear so I am a bit baffled now. Also, when I try and troubleshoot the problem it says 'Detecting problems', and then says 'An unexpected error has occured. The troubleshooting wizard can't continue'. After clicking 'View error details' I get the following:- Package ID: Network Diagnostics Path: C:\Windows\diagnostics\system\networking Error code: 0x80070002 Source: Engine User: xxxxxxxxx(deleted personal details) Context Restricted If I go onto the network connections (through control panel) you can see that it is connected to the router, but there is an X between the router and the internet. Any ideas?

  19. I have recently bought a new LG Tv 47LM620T-ZE but I am concerned. There is no PIN number option to prevent children from accessing the internet on the TV via LG wi-fi dongle or from theVirgin Media Superhub plugged into the back of the tv. The LG tv company are absolutely refusing to do anything about this even though I have written to them on numerous times. Where do I stand on this and what does the law say about this?
  20. This was emailed to me this morning. I urge all Caggers to sign the petition because of the wide-ranging consequences of what this secretive body is planning. Dear friends, We have four days to stop a top-secret global corporate power grab that attacks everything from a free Internet to environmental protections. This agreement is being negotiated right now by bureaucrats backed by corporate lobbyists. Click below to crash their secret meeting with our global call to kill the TPP deal: Details are leaking of a top-secret, global corporate power grab of breathtaking scope -- attacking everything from a free Internet to health and environmental regulations, and we have just 4 days to stop it. Big business has a new plan to fatten their pockets: a giant global pact, with an international tribunal to enforce it, that is kept top secret for years (even from our lawmakers!) and then brought down like a Death Star on our democracies. Big Tobacco, Big Oil, Big Pharma, Walmart and almost 600 other corporate lobbyists are all in on the draft -- including limits on smoking laws, affordable medicines and free speech on the Net. The latest round of negotiations ends in just 4 days -- but outcries in each of our countries could shake the confidence of negotiators and scuttle the talks forever. Let's get to a million against the global corporate takeover. Sign below and forward widely. Avaaz will project our petition counter on the walls of the conference so negotiators can see the opposition to their plan exploding in real time: http://www.avaaz.org/en/stop_the_corporate_death_star/?bWGgIcb&v=17866 The deal, called the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), is written to protect investors from government regulation, even if that regulation is passed in the public interest. Leaked versions suggest the TPP would undermine protections for air and water safety and reintroduce measures from the US Internet freedom attack as well as steamrolling efforts to produce generic affordable medicines. Worse still, lawmakers who fail to conform to the TPP’s rules face sanctions in an international tribunal -- a place where corporations can sue us for deals previous governments signed in secret! Negotiators say this is just a trade agreement, written to facilitate investment and profit for all. But the leaked draft imposes so many limits on citizen protections, it's clear this "trade" agreement is skewed to put corporate profit above people's needs -- that's not surprising since it's been drafted in secret with almost 600 corporate lobbyists. But there is hope: Australia is bucking against the international tribunal system, and New Zealand is objecting to the takeover of its medicine-pricing protections that keep drugs affordable. Massive public opposition, casting doubt over each country's ability to sell TPP at home, could derail the talks for good. Sign the petition now, and forward widely -- the delegates and lobbyists are watching the wave of opposition grow in real time: http://www.avaaz.org/en/stop_the_corporate_death_star/?bWGgIcb&v=17866 US candidate for Senate, Elizabeth Warren in a recent speech said: “Corporations are not people. People have hearts, they have kids, they get jobs, they get sick, they cry, they dance. They live, they love, and they die. And that matters, because we don't run this country for corporations, we run it for people." Let’s reach one million to stop the corporate takeover of our governments. With hope, Iain, Pedro, Laura, Ari, Emma, Lisa, Luca, Ricken and the whole Avaaz team PS - Avaaz has launched Community Petitions, an exciting new platform where it's quick and easy to create a campaign on any issue you care strongly about. 21. I'm moving home this Saturday and wanted to take my O2 home phone and broadband package with me. I've recently signed up to a new 12 month contract (with 50% off my broadband for 12 months) and, having experienced no major gripes or service problems with O2 over the previous year, decided to contact them today to discuss moving my package to my new address. The phone call started off well and I was informed of the £43 re-connection fee ( as expected) along with the disconnection date for this Friday (as requested)... however when I was informed that my service would not start to be moved until the 18th October, I felt a little bit shocked! Furthermore, I will be expected to wait an additional 10 -14 days for my broadband and phone line to be up and running! Reluctantly I proceeded and was offered a free dongle which I can use if I top it up myself... "hmmm, post it to my new address" I said "Flat number 1..." I was then told that my address couldn't be found and that O2 would not be able to provide me with a service at all! And as easy as that he informs me my account will now be closed on Friday and an envelope to send the router back will sent out to me. Charming!
  22. Hi,. Could I have some advise please I have a Capital One credit card which I have request PPI to be reclaimed. After waiting almost 5 months for a reply (December to June) with letters inbetween saying that they are very busy etc etc they replied to say that I applied for the credit card online and ticked the PPI so therefore I agreed. Obviously I dont remember clicking the button to ask for PPI (can never see I would ask for extra money to be added each month to be honest!) Is there ever any way around appealing this? What is more frustrating is that they are STILL added on PPI despite the letter in December to say I don't need it. Would be grateful for any advice before I write back to them again or contact the F.Ombudsman.
  23. Forgive me for posting this here; I know it shouldn't be but it's as close as I could get to the related content. I post here in the hope that someone might be able to point me in the right direction - given the type of ppl that visit this site! Here is the issue: I was recently told that we (the entire family dating back to 1700's) is on a public tree on the Ancestry .co .uk website. The problem I have with this is that the person that created it has nothing to do with us .. but for one family member marrying into their family. That's it! The user created an ancestry tree of their family and, as far as i'm concerned, the link to ours should stop at the family member that married into theirs. We have fk all to do with them - and are never likely to! I email ancestry to see if it could be removed - Nope! came the reply. We don't delete trees. Contact the person who created it. So i did. Nope! came the reply (basically). I wouldn't mind if they had sought permission to add some of us (some of our family members don't care that they are on there .. which is fine. But some do!) It's gross intrusion of privacy as far as i'm concerned and i don't agree with it one bit! Anyone know of any 'internet / privacy of information' type laws that i can use to get it removed?
  24. Hi, hopefully a quick and easy question... As part of my work I am required to email documents to my office on a daily basis using my own internet connection. As such I am allowed to claim a fixed sum of £7 from the comapny as reimbusement. This pays part of my monthly internet bill. However, the company have now declared this to HMRC and it is being treated as a benefit in kind. Is this right? Surely if the company is paying only a percentage, they are only paying for their access to my connection? Thanks!
  25. Is a 100% satisfaction guarantee worth anything at all? I lost my business of many years due to the crash in 2008. After a while I decided to start a new enterprise but with very little money left I needed to be really careful. I took time in selecting the company to build my website...and made a mistake! They offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I am not satisfied. They know very well I am not satisified. They were hopeless and never provided what they agreed to provide. all they say is 'we have done more than we agreed' and refuse to discuss it. I have demanded my money back to no avail. I'm reluctant to sue because I had to do it once in the past and although I won I was still out of pocket. What do you think? I've paid them a bit less than £600 and could do with it! The site is unusable and offline now.
