  1. Hi I only just noticed that £13.99 had been taken from my Santander123 cureent account by Ancestry.com via DD !!!!!! I checked the DD and it states it started on 29/07/16 and i most DEFINITELY did not start/confirm this Direct Debit. Thus far they have taken £13.99 on 29/07/16 and today 02/09/16 !!!!!! How do i go about cancelling this, i can not recall using this service !!!!! I have an excellent credit rating and am more worried about it effecting that. Also i have no details of an account with them, so would not know how to even 'log in' to cancel it on their site. Anyone advise. Thanks Little update, i had full info on the DD, it has been taken by - Payee name: GLOBAL COLLECT BV RE ANCESTRY.COM I have NEVER authorised this !!! Anyone advise ? Thanks
  2. I signed up for the 14 day free trial which ends on 13th Oct 2014. I attempted to cancel the subscription, but could not get any further. When clicking on the "cancel subscription" link, I was taken to a page where I had to verify my email address by inputting the password. When I hit "Enter" NOTHING HAPPENS! This system will NOT let me cancel the subscription! So what next ?
  3. My daughter had signed up for a free 14 day trial with this company, before the trial was up she had cancelled the full subs. However They took out over £150 14 days after she had signed up. They took the money knowing that she had cancelled. She has called them and they have said that they will refund the money but it can take up to 10 days to appear in her bank. Having just come back from holiday and having only 74p in the bank you can imagine her horror at the prospects of not being able to feed her two children. She has spoken to her bank and they have told her that the money they took should be refunded straight away as it was paid via a debit card and the company have no reason to have this money refunded straight away, but Ancestry have told her its not their problem and basically she will get it when their finance department refund it. Ive had to lend her some money just to tide her over the weekend. I have looked over the net and have found that they have a habit of doing this spanning back to when they had first started out, not just in this country either. I just cannot understand how this company has been allowed to get away with this after such a long time. She has placed a formal complaint to them but is there anyone else she could complain too other than this company, who are very well known for doing this. I will do a little more research into this, but so far its not looking good.
  4. Forgive me for posting this here; I know it shouldn't be but it's as close as I could get to the related content. I post here in the hope that someone might be able to point me in the right direction - given the type of ppl that visit this site! Here is the issue: I was recently told that we (the entire family dating back to 1700's) is on a public tree on the Ancestry .co .uk website. The problem I have with this is that the person that created it has nothing to do with us .. but for one family member marrying into their family. That's it! The user created an ancestry tree of their family and, as far as i'm concerned, the link to ours should stop at the family member that married into theirs. We have fk all to do with them - and are never likely to! I email ancestry to see if it could be removed - Nope! came the reply. We don't delete trees. Contact the person who created it. So i did. Nope! came the reply (basically). I wouldn't mind if they had sought permission to add some of us (some of our family members don't care that they are on there .. which is fine. But some do!) It's gross intrusion of privacy as far as i'm concerned and i don't agree with it one bit! Anyone know of any 'internet / privacy of information' type laws that i can use to get it removed?
