hope everything goes ok I do sympathise - my boss and sales director have both had surgery for fusing discs ( aged 50 and 35 respectively) Both had to go through all of the above stages as quoted by the wonderfull reply you got. unless the account was both signatories required for all transactions I would guess the above advice may be correct - but then you would jointly be responsible for the debt surely? not just your responsibility? I am no expert and I am sure someone will reply soon - but having dealt with mortgage arrears in the past the only COMMENT i would make is that the courts are usually sympathetic with anyone who makes an effort to repay a debt - so try making an arrangement for your part and keep records in writing / recorded delivery letters of all your attempts to resolve the matter - while you are waiting for better advice than mine! I sent all my correspondence to bootle - have received standard bogg off replies - but some people have received no correspondence untill court claim.Make sure everything is sent recorded. Reference Ireland I am bumping your question up the queue - but try putting in as a search and see what comes up? jansus:)

after statements - prelim request - wait 14 days (even if you get reply) the Letter before action - wait 14 days then file claim ( see alternative methods onFAQ) they will probaly defend and then pay up (I hope!) apologies if spelling mistakes couple of glasses of wine while relationship councelling a sister who asks for advice - then does the opposite - exhausting! jansus:rolleyes:

have you started own thread on alliance and leicester? I know there is a special section on claiming in scotland - try putting in as a search if you cant find it -and read lots of threads even from different banks - try all sections under fAQ jansus:)

They took the full 40 days with me - but if they do turn up early you can proceed - but as far as i know the next letters you must stick to the timetable. jansus

this a standard letter they send out - just make sure you stick to timetable on FAQ allow 14 days as per your letter and then proceed. Some people get no letters at all before filing claim - i have had two. I think the general advice appears just keep reading the site to makesure you are ready for each stage- including the threads in the successes it will cheer you up. start a thread under your finacial institution- they have 40 days to produce information.see template letter - check you asked for correct info and sent £10.00 ? read FAQ and libaries and all the threads you can - there are instructions on here on how to proceed . best of luck:)

Does anybody know if faulty fuel was sold in devon through Morrisons? My father-in -law is sure that a problem with his car was caused by this - he had just had it serviced and it was fine. then had all the symptoms and it cost £400 - but Morrisons are saying it did not apply to fuel sold in his area? thanks

dont feel guilty - i had a good relationship with A&L since 1992 - but when i went over overdraft limit by accident i asked for a temporary increase in overdraft while i took money out of my savings to put right.We had a regular salary going into the account and they refused - which resulted in £134.00 in charges in one go -if they had not been unreasonable i would not have started claim.When I went back 6 years there were over £1000 charges. bump if you dont get reply - look at replies on my thread. reference interest lots of threads - and lots of different opinions personally i did not claim the £5.00 overdraft charges - unless they went over this amount - which they did sometimes. i am claiming the 8% interest when it goes to court and in FAQ it says do not ask for this in preliminary letters. put contractural interest in as search - you will be amazed at threads! best of luck jansus
