In the summer for 2003 in preparation for university it was recommended that i open a student bank account. I decided to open one with Yorkshire Bank as i have been banking with them since i was 9 or 10. The women who dealt with my request told me that their student accounts were virtualy identical to the current account i already had, similar overdraft limits, credit card, but had a higher rate of interest. The woman in question said that she would open a student account along side my current account to make it more benficial for myself, but informed me that without regular payments to my current account the overdraft would likely to be withdrawn. Cut to xmas 2003 both accounts are teetering on the limit of overdrafts when i receive a letter asking me to visit my branch to discuss the overdraft on my current account. And low and behold they are informing me that my income for the account didnt justify the £500 overdraft limit. I then paid off the overdraft (and extra charges due to it being slightly overdrawn a few days before i paid in) and closed the account. So i am left wondering, would it be able to claim back any charges on my account that got closed, it was my main account for 3 years with incomings and outgoings, as well as charges for my student account?
