I think your missing the gist of the thread. If you do use this service then despite what the CRA's might claim you will be supplying a link to previous addresses or at least confirming you live at your present one & if your 'avoiding' them not a good idea

Also if you subscribe to that anti ID theft service you will never get finance - why? because the lazy buggers who underwrite loans won't take the time to check. When the transaction stops for an ID check they decline it & just move onto the next applicant

& remember by offering this facility at much lower cost than usual they are building a huge data base of who lives where etc which they will be able to pass on to their clients the lenders & the DCA's - for a fee of course

Free ID Protection has nothing to do with the CRA's. You are only using them to convey a message to ALL lenders. It doesn't matter if you or a crook changes your address the information remains with your file, so you are still protected.

You will certainly NOT be rejected for credit etc using the Free ID Protection system, but applications may take a little longer. A small price to pay for added security. In fact lending to someone subscribing to Free ID Protection from a lenders persepective is a lot safer than anything else at present. Furthermore, there's no reason why in the medium term the whole process can't be speeded up.

Apart from the CRA's you'd probably be shocked to learn just how much personal information is out there about you. Free ID Protection renders that information worthless to crooks, who'd use it to obtain credit cards, laons, open bank accounts etc.

Of course CIFAS is run & funded by the CRA's

What is CIFAS ? - CIFAS Online

& no despite what they claim you won't get credit easily. I have had underwriters admit it to me

For most lenders & brokers processing applications is part of a system that is not geared to handle delays. If the application is delayed (for any reason) then it's arbitarly rejected & they move onto the next one

Most lenders report to Experian, Equifax or CallCredit. It's worth ordering your credit report from one of these three credit reference agencies. The entries on each report can also be different, so you could order from all three to compare. They all offer free credit reports.

It's worth knowing that checking your own credit report doesn't affect your credit score.
