After looking on this site, I'm so impressed I'm going for it, doing letter now!

My wife's account, Nationwide Flexaccount about £600 in returned direct debit fees since Feb 2002. I'm just wondering wether claiming interest back is worth the effort as it's so complicating and messy for small amounts, IE If a DD was retuned in Jan the account didn't go overdrawn as it didn't get paid it was maybe £2/£5 short, but when statement arrives mid next month -15th Feb it lists charges to be taken from account in 28 days (on approx 15th March) Like Unpaid Direct Debit Fee £30 + interest charge 0.31p. So do I forget the Exel interest calc sheet and just add all the "interest charge" items up from all the statements to get a grand total of interest paid.

I must add that for about 6 months we had an arrangement with bank to pay off on a reducing overdraft a large batch of return fees about £200 which we did I think this interest may relate to that overdrawn balance

Thanks Dave

Yes I was thinking along those lines, letting them have the interest as thier expences for the returned items. I'm going for the warning letter approach I have downloaded from the library, not mentioning interest they have added
