The best way is use MOT stations that don't repair your car, that way they have nothing to loose or gain.

My advice is based on my opinion and my experience. It is not to be taken as legal advice as I am not legally qualified

ongoing issues here then!!! Im a second hand car dealer with an onsite workshop. I send all my MOT to a local MOT centre who doesnt do repairs. He will retest for free within10 days and fails or passes by the book. Im not intrested in getting cars through easily because its not in my intrest to do so.

The best thing is to find a local garage that is recomended by friends family etc and stick with them. Cars very rarly fail for things you dont expect and if they do its normally a common thing to the make of the car so look it up and ring round for prices if your not sure. The other thing to do is service your car every year prior to the mot as this should reduce the chances of failure and large unexpected bills as problems should be picked up prior to mot.

Another peace of advice that very few people do is test your car 28 days before its due. You dont lose the extra time as its added on but you do by yourself time if the should be a problem.
