Maybe not the right forum but I thought I would give it a try. I had an Egg loan then in late 2003 I topped it up. On the phone I said no to PPI I didn't already have it and didn't want it. In Jan 04 I got a letter about some change or other which related to PPI so I called them and they said it had been added on! I asked for it to be removed and refunded and was advised it was. Anyway I have just paid off a £10k loan a year early :D and have received a statement of my loan payments and the statement shows around £900 charge for PPI and a refund of £500 in Jan so I pulled out my contract and I stupidly hadn't noticed the thieving F****rs had added it on!!!! The loan didn't have it on before and a refunded it in the call when they tried to add it on as I have no use for it.

So I have just rang them up, I explained I had never asked for it, they said that it didn't matter if I didn't as I have signed for it! I said it was deception and PPI is often mis sold as I am sure he was aware. He said he just needed to talk to a supervisor and then came back. I have asked them to proved my signed copy of this agreement and transcripts of the calls. They said they don't have the calls and that would prove nothing since I signed.

So my question is where do I stand on getting the £400 they conned me out of? Do I have any chance? Are they in their rights to add it on despite me refusing the PPI? What steps do I now take?

Thanks

Write to them asking for their copy of the signed agreement you made to purchase the PPI. (Someone's done it somewhere - there's a letter kicking about in a thread I read today I'm sure there is). If they can provide it, then unfortunately you're over a barrel. If not, then tell then you're going to court over it... seems PPI has been illegally added to quite a few people's accounts.
