I am an Asian and a new arrival and new driver in UK

In February, I drove my car from home to Derby City.

According to Google Map, I parked it in the area near Debrion.

The map show me it is "NCP Parking".

However, I received the PCN from "Excel Parking" recently .

It costs 100 pounds each..... OH MY GODNESS....

the map instructed me along the wrong route

I have parked at Excel Parking 3 times (every Thursday for volunteering service nearby).

I didn't assume the google map is wrong and there are not any signs inside saying Excel Parking

(Only at the Entrance and Exit has the company logo with small fonts)

What can I do?

Can I appeal?

Does anyone give me some suggestions.

(it is a hard situation that I need to pay for three PCN, total cost 300 pound)

Thank You

Hi.

The paperwork you've had is from a private company, not the authorities. Please don't think about paying until we've had a look at things for you.

Could you fill in the information from a thread here for the first ticket, say, please? That will help us to advise you.

Welcome to the forum.

THE BAD NEWS  We know this horrible company, and its sister company VCS, very well.  So will you when you have a chance to settle in and read some threads.  They very often take motorists to court who "owe" for one ticket, therefore it's very likely that at some point they will take you to court as you "owe" three.  Therefore you might want to consider paying 3 x £60 while the invoices are in their discount period.

THE GOOD NEWS  This is not a criminal matter.  You're dealing with a private company.  Costs at small claims county court are very limited, and in any case forum members win around 85% of court cases.  So we'd prefer you didn't pay!  We will help you through the legal process.

You've already seen their trick of putting a small number of signs to catch motorists out - judges don't like this.  They have also not respected a law called the Protection of Freedoms Act and can only sue the person who was actually driving the car - and they don't know who this person is.  They know who the keeper of the car is, but that's not the same thing.

We could do with some help from you.

I have had a look at the car park and you are right according to google maps when they filmed the car park in 2022.  On one entrance there was one notice that said parking for 2 - 12  hours was £2.50.  At the other entrance there was an additional sign with loads of writing but didn't appear to say anything about  £100 charge.  There also appeared to be few signs inside the car park at that time though it is possible they have now increased the signs.

If you live anywhere near it would be in your interest to get photos of what the signs say now and how many there are inside the car park as well as the terms and conditions at the entrance. Also if there are some signs that state different conditions to others and what the sign states at or on the payment machine.

They don't have planning permission for the signs but sadly that does seem to be a winner  when arguing legal matters which seems strange.

Could you please post your third PCN when you receive it.

If the volunteer group entrance  is in the car park could they help you to get the PCNs cancelled.?
