Hi All,

I was speaking to the halifax earler regarding a £40 charge versus the 40p I was short and said "we both know it does not cost £40 for a computer to reject a DD" at which point the person on the other end of the phone went into robot mode "we can not disclose that information due to data protection!" and I had not even asked the question!

thats a new one on me!

Cheers

It's also a load of nonsence. They must justify their charges inlaw & they won't thats why they refunding them. The jobsworth on the phone has probably been told to say that much like "fair and reasonable"

Lots of organisations are hiding unlawfully behind the DPA & they should be challenged.

LOL ask them what the Data Protection Act protects next time?

Its data as defined in the act which is personal info of a living data subject.

As much as the bank in question may be described as living organism, human it aint and therefore its data isnt protected in the same way i believe.
