HSL Chairs

My wife and I are in our 70s and last year purchased our riser/recliner chairs from HSL. Proud owners very happy to extol the virtues to family and friends. Still happy with the chairs overall but have hit a problem with the leather on my chair losing/fading it's colour on the head rest where my head lies. We chose a burgundy colour which in the affected area is going more red. Contacted HSL who arranged for an independent specialist to come and test the chair, he sprayed some liquid on an area not affected and rubbed off the liquid with nothing coming off on the cloth and basically said the problem was contamination.

HSL’s response was that this was not a manufacturing fault so there was no recourse under the guarantee. They then went on to explain where the contamination could come from, medication (most people our age are likely to be on medication), hair products used, body sweat (being affected by these items) or just contamination from the air around us. The specialist did mention that in his opinion the leather had a basic dying process and the final finish may be sprayed on to obtain the desired colour.

None of this was mentioned by the sales people when extolling the quality and virtues of their leather coverings.

Just thought it was worth mentioning so other people can take this into consideration when choosing their furniture, had I known that these problems could happen and still decided on leather I would have had made a fitted head cover for the top cushion which is a bit pointless now.
