Most likely they "adjusted" the track rod nut by a couple of turns so they could claim that new tyres need alignment and squeeze another £40 from you.

Avoid them like the plague in future.

If you want to clean your engine, at oil change drain all the oil and measure how much you've taken out. take a third exactly out of the equation and do a mix cheap oil with a third of clean diesel.

In other words, if you drain 4.5 litres, mix 3 litres of cheap new oil with 1.5 litres of diesel.

Put this mix back in the engine and run it ON IDLE for 10 minutes.

Drain again and with the sump off drop another litre of clean diesel in the engine from the top so it drains straight out at the sump.

Change drain washer/sump (accordingly to model), replace filter and fill with fresh good quality oil.

Engine will be quieter, more efficient and smoother.

Don't forget to change air filter too, very important.
