Morning DX, I have tried the link and the suggestion. The lens comes out and stays out, then goes in but not all the way and I still have the noughts/crosses grid.

The actual lens cover is not even there now, I have tried all the suggestions in the link and short of dropping it from a height then am stuck!

Think of it this way. For a £10 bargain, not only did you have 2 years of taking pictures, but now the camera has turned into a puzzle. :-)

It is possible that the inbuilt battery no longer charges enough to support the camera fully functioning. One of the problems with the inbuilt battery over the standard rechargeable batteries which you put into the camera, is that you are never going to have the inbuilt battery replaced. With standard rechargeables, once the batteries are not charging fully, you just buy new batteries.

We could do with some help from you.

very true Uncle!

It is a shame as it takes lovely photo's and videos , been looking for a new one and keep coming across a make called Rollei?

My camera is 14 MP so anything like that or maybe more at a price I can afford!

Back to playing noughts and crosses

Many new digital camera now have an inbuilt battery and i think this is to make them obselete quicker.

I have a Fuji digital camera that is about 15 years old and it still works. I also have a Nikon, which is far more advanced with a decent zoom. I have never had a problem. I think with rechargeable batteries that you charge separately and put into a camera, there is more chance of a camera lasting longer. The biggest problem with electronic devices has always been power supply.

Don't pay too much for a camera, with loads of features that you will hardly use. Also don't buy a camera based on the MP, as having a high MP rating, is only really useful if you want to get a massive picture produced.

That is Amazon market place, which is a bit like Ebay.

Do a Google search for best buy camera under £50 or whatever amount you want to spend. Then see what is recommended on sites such as Whatcamera. Then do a search online for that Camera that you are interested in.

When i looked ealier there is a Panasonic SZ8 recommended which have Leica lenses for about £90. This seems to use the phone type batteries ( which is easily replaceable) which you can charge while in the camera and via USB. It is apparently good for landscapes and has video. Depends on what you want to spend. You can probably get a decent camera for under £50.

Email Fuji Uk address with details and see how they respond. You can say you were very happy with camera until it stopped working. That you are extremely disappointed with the short lifespan of the camera and have been a strong advocate of Fuji previously. Ask Fuji what they can do to help. They might offer vouchers or something. Worth a try.

Well contacted Fuji who have replied, going to cost me £50 for a repair

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing a problem with your camera.

This message is indicating that the lens movement is restricted in some way. The camera will require workshop attention. The manufacturer's warranty is 12 months from the date of purchase which means that this will be a chargeable repair job. The fixed cost of repair for this camera is £50 including vat, postage back to you and a renewed 12 month warranty.

You can register the repair of your camera by visiting the website below and following the on-screen instructions:

http://www.fujicamerarepair.co.uk

We do not require any of the accessories which came with your camera unless they are directly linked to the fault (i.e: faulty charger /battery ).

Kind regards

The Fujifilm X World Team

Has anyone got a Polaroid Digital camera and if so how good are they? I also imagine them as the instant picture brigade!

I have found a Nikon I quite like the look of in Argos but seems all stores have sold out even though it says so many sold in last few hours!

It is cheaper there then anywhere else, am still looking but if no luck may just get mine repaired

Nikon S2900 CoolPix, in Purple, £42.99 at Argos

20mp

That Camera is being sold off cheap through Argos with £25 off their normal price. The model has been replaced by the A100 which is about £120. Some Argos branches have the camera in stock, but probably miles away. That camera takes good pics, but according to reviews is slippery to handle and not good indoors,

The Sony W800 or W830 is a better camera apparently with image stabilisation. John Lewis have the W800 in stock at £69.99.

I certainly would not pay £50 to repair your current camera, given that you only paid £10. Better to spend the money on a new camera.

Check with family and friends. Many people now use phone cameras and have digital cameras stuck in draws not being used. They might want to get rid of them for free or a small amount. A local charity shop had several the last time i looked in.

Other than that. There are quite a few good cameras for less than £70. Check for reviews and decide which one, based on what you need. If you are taking pictures indoors or of childrdn who can't sit still, you might want image stabilisation.
