I had a loan back in 2008 which I haven't been able to pay.

I made my last payment to them in 2012 I believe.

My credit file shows I have been defaulted every month since.

Does it take 6 years from the last default,

or 6 years from the last payment to the bank?

I've been turned down mortgages because of this,

and wondered what year it will be when I can get one.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

Got some of the dates wrong: But here it is.

Account start date **/09/2007

Opening balance £ 18,566

Regular payment £ £ 223

Repayment frequency Monthly

Date of default **/05/2011

Default balance £ 11,395

All references to a defaulted debt must be removed from your credit files after 6 years

has passed from date of default, whether paid off or not.

.

the WHOLE ACCOUNT WILL VANISH, never to return.

.

however, this does not mean the debt itself is not still owed

consider a CCA request.

.

This is so that someone who continues paying something

- even after 6 years from default

- should not be at a disadvantage to someone who pays nothing after default

and ends up with a clean file after 6 years.

so 05/17 it will vanish

Right thanks!

If I had the money - or even ever saw the money from the loan, I would be paying it back. Stupid decision some time ago, I just hope to be able to get a mortgage. Was worried that this would be 6 years, after the last default, But at least that is a relief!
