how about this one?..

i bought my son a ps4 in January when were living in Canada

..in May we moved back to the UK..

two weeks ago It just died.

phoned Sony in the UK and was told as it was purchased in North America they couldn't help me

..although it is still under warranty and

was told to contact Sony North America.

.when I contact them they say its not their issue as I no longer live there

they told me to contact Sony in the UK or take it to a Sony store.

I took it to a store who wont touch it as I did not buy it there

and they are a franchise and not owned by Sony.

im stuck with a machine that is still under warranty

but Sony wont honour that warranty because I moved.

This is a shocking story. However, I can't see on what basis Sony North America are trying to disclaim responsibility. It makes no difference to my mind where you live. The fact is that you had a contract in North America and it should be enforceable there. Canada has broadly the same legal system that we do have here in United Kingdom and so I can't imagine that your rights in respect of your ps4 are any different to what they would be under UK law. I think it would be a good idea for you to tweet your story to sony using the short URL for this thread which is: – http://cag.tw/15fl

Well Sony US said they would repair it but I would have to send it back to Canada at my own cost..to ship it back to Canada and back to the UK again will cost more than the cost of a new machine.

I don't have twitter so don't know how to do that

Sorry to say - but that is a reasonable offer. However, it is crazy that they won't simply offer a worldwide guarantee

Hi buck_tarbrush

Write a Formal Letter of Complaint, mark it as such. Explain what's happened (purchased console in Canada - moved UK - it's faulty), how they have let you down (no one wants to take ownership of the problem, you can't be expected to send it back to Canada or US) and what you want them to do (repair/replace).

Send it to:-

Mr. Christopher Bowen

Managing Director

Sony UK

christopher.bowen@eu.sony.com

You might have other options too, if you paid by debit or credit card (Chargeback / Section 75), but try writing first. Unfortunately it doesn't come with an international warranty, just checked.

Massive company, maybe they can do something as a goodwill gesture.
